After waiting for eight years for a visa number to become available to find out my next steps in the process to receive my green card, I finally received an email on March 9, 2015 informing me that my case was ready. I was so happy. I instantly called my girlfriend at the time to inform her and as expected she was extremely happy. Everything was going great until I received an email from NVC informing me that I would have to do my immigration interview and medical in Kingston, Jamaica. My girlfriend instantly said that she did not like the idea because she have heard of cases of people going back to their home country to do their interview and get stuck for one reason or another. After informing my parents about what was going on they told me that everything was ok because they did all of the paperwork correct. My girlfriend at the time was still not happy. In fact, she was adamant that we should consult an attorney. After searching and reading up reviews about attorneys online she sent me a link to Mr. Loblack on Facebook. After setting up a consultation with Mr. Loblack and explaining my situation my worst fear became reality. He told me that if I should go I stand the chance of getting bar from reentry for a period of roughly 10 years because I overstayed (Base on what my parents told me I didn't knew that I overstayed) a period exceeding six months. My unhappiness gradually began to go away after Mr. Loblack informed me that I can go to the interview in Jamaica but I would have to have a waiver. As a result, I hire him as an attorney. After following everything that Mr. Loblack and his team (Nadia, Sue, Danielle, Wolf, Rachelle and especially Rose) told me to do I was able to receive a waiver after roughly four months in January 2017. I leave for Jamaica on February 5 to do my medical at the St. Andrew's Hospital on February 8 and my interview on the Jamaican Embassy on February 24. While in Jamaica everything went smoothly. In fact, I was able to return to America roughly two weeks after my interview. In closing, I must say that as a result of the great job that Mr. Loblack did I am now an American resident. Also, I would recommend him without hesitation to anybody with an immigration problem. He and his team is the GREATEST.

Loblack has the energy and desire to help people. I would recommend him to anyone, and trust me it's hard pleasing me. He is clever, patient and have the ability to listen and understand problems beyond human understanding. I was frustrated and didn't know what else to do. Peter Loblack was recommended to me. Loblack helped me to resolve a very complicated matter using his legal recommendations. His knowledge of the immigration law is remarkable. No other Attorney could help us and he did it! He had rich reference experience. I was impressed. He worked efficiently and effectively under my complicated circumstance. I was comfortable and alert in such admirable professionalism. I'm really not the one for review writings etc but I give credit where it is due. Thank you Peter Loblack! You are truly gifted. NL

David handled a complex matter for myself and my family, which involved law in multiple jurisdictions and securities law issues that had no clear precedent. He did an excellent job throughout, and was a consummate professional both in his interactions with opposing counsel and with myself and my family members. The issue was resolved more quickly and with better economic results than I thought possible. By the end of the process, the opposing counsel was complimenting David's work and informing me how lucky I was to have him as my counsel. I would recommend him to anyone facing a complex and/or important securities-related legal issue.

I hired Amy to help me sell my mom's house. My mother had passed away a few months before and I wanted to make sure that everything with the sale was done properly. Amy was very professional and thorough. She was patient and explained everything to me clearly. She guided me and helped me make the best decisions. Amy handled every issue that came up, from problems with the buyer to removing liens on the property. She also made sure I wasn't taken advantage of with the sale. Her advice was extremely helpful and I definitely learned a lot. She made a very emotionally draining process bearable. I don't know what I would have done without her expertise. I highly recommend Amy to anyone in need of a real estate attorney.

I hired Amy to review the lease for a commercial space, and I could not be happier with her services! She was extremely thorough in reviewing the lease and helped me to craft the best strategy for negotiating terms with the landlord. There were many clauses put forward by the landlord which I otherwise would have dismissed as unimportant, but Amy pointed out potential scenarios that could have had an unfavorable outcome for me as a tenant. In many instances, I found her counsel to be more valuable than the tenant broker working on my behalf. I learned a great deal from Amy, and I would recommend her to anyone looking for a real estate lawyer, whether they be a landlord or tenant.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Plantation, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
