I had been suffering in pain for over two years and also denied social security disability twice before hiring Mr. Freeman. He was knowledgeable, upfront, honest and to the point as to how things would go moving forward with him. Just when I thought I'd never get my disability approved, Mr. Feeman made sure I got it. He is awesome at what he does. If your looking for representation look no further.

If you're dealing with a disability issue and need a lawyer to help you get your Social Security benefits, your best bet is to contact Mr. Freeman and retain him as your lawyer, he's absolutely the best. My husband passed away last July and in addition to the immense sadness I was going through, I was also at a loss of what I would be able to do, and if I could receive windows disability social security. I'm disabled and have never dealt with applying for SSD because I had heard so many bad stories about people losing their cases after years of trying, but with my husband gone I had no means to support myself financially and decided that I'd better get a lawyer and just hope for the best. I decided to retain Mr. Freeman and am forever grateful that I did, because rather than just hoping for the best, I got the best!! In addition to being a wonderful lawyer, Mr. Freeman is also a wonderful person. He took my case and was available for me anytime I had a question or was confused about the paperwork that Social Security needed me to fill out. I recall that at one point, after I had already sent Social Security copies of my marriage certificate, they sent me a letter of denial for my widows disability case, saying that my husband and I were never married. I called Mr Freeman in tears, not only had I just lost my husband of 23 years, but now they're saying that we weren't married!! Mr. Freeman calmed me down and said he'd take care of it, which he did. I have never in my life had to deal with a lawyer, and never needed one as much as I did during this terrible time in my life, like I stated before, he's the best!! I'm so thankful that Mr. Freeman was my lawyer, fighting for me to receive the benefits I was entitled to, and ultimately winning my case for me. The paperwork and proof about my disability, that he submitted to the Judge showed how thorough Mr. Freeman is at his job. The day before my hearing, the Judge called Mr. Freeman and said there would be no need for the hearing, that all of the paperwork and evidence for my disability case was perfect and I was granted a full favorable decision regarding my widows disability case. Due to the Covid situation, I never had the chance to see Mr Freeman in person, but if given the chance, I would of wanted to give him a giant hug of gratitude. Thank you Mr. Freeman, Mrs. Freeman and your team of experts, I don't know what I would do without having you on my side. May God bless all of you.

I hired Donnie recently in Pinellas County and I'm beyond grateful I did. He was proactive immediately after taking over my case. From the very beginning, he made me feel like he truly cared and wasn't in it just for the money. I remember Donnie told me, he'd fight for me 110% and thats exactly what he did!

We hired Donny recently and found him to be professional, very thorough, detailed, and expressed genuine concern for his client and the outcome of the case. In addition, he always returned calls, was dependable, and explained everything in detail. We are very pleased with his representation and results could not have been better. I would highly recommend Mr. Kilfin as your attorney.

I ran into a situation in Pinellas county. Hired him the next day or so. Yeah, it cost some money. Very much worth it. He totally gave me a worry free representation. I didn't even show up for a single court date. He conveyed what needed to be conveyed to whomever it needed to be conveyed to understand the dynamics of what was really going on in the case. And he won. Has the right legal foundation. Aggressive approach. Hard working. He has a complete network. Lot of years working with all of the different outfits that concern law in his area. Stop looking for any other attorney right now. You just hire this guy cuz I said so.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Saint Petersburg, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
