I cannot express enough gratitude for the exceptional service I received from Tucker Disability Law. After facing multiple rejections from the VA and two other law firms, I felt hopeless and discouraged. After my first consultation with Tucker Disability Law, John contacted me, and I felt renewed hope. Their team is not only knowledgeable and experienced in handling VA disability cases, but they also genuinely care about my situation. They took the time to listen to my story, understand my challenges, and outline a clear plan for my appeal. The commitment and dedication they demonstrated throughout the process were remarkable. They kept me informed every step of the way, answered all my questions, and provided the support I needed during a stressful time. Thanks to their expertise and persistence, I secured a 100% disability rating—a result I had almost given up on. I highly recommend Tucker Disability Law to anyone seeking assistance with VA disability claims. They truly go above and beyond for their clients, and I am immensely grateful for their help. Thank you, John, Emma, and the entire Tucker Law Team! Luiz

I have been very happy with Attorney Tucker and his team. I was referred to him by a relative of mine who works with him professionally, and told me that he is extremely knowledgeable, and that he is highly principled. She said that she goes to him when she has questions suitable to his legal specialty. Legal matters are intimidating and they take a VERY long time, and the Tucker team has supported and guided me throughout this challenging process. Attorney Tucker assigned a paralegal, Tyler, to my case. Tyler has been extremely kind, helpful, responsive, and thorough. He has the perfect calm and respectful demeanor. Of note, using a paralegal also helps keep costs down. Of course, any legal services will be expensive. There was also an option to pay on contingency of winning the case, which is helpful for those who cannot afford to pay for services. Either way, I am confident that the services and peace of mind are well worth it in the long run. I am glad to now have this relationship with Attorney Tucker and his team for my ongoing and future needs. Consider this a five star review!

This law firm, headed by John Tucker, has done an excellent job. The lawyer for our case was Daniel Clarke and we can't say enough good things about his attention to detail, knowledge of the VA system and the law regarding it, and perhaps more importantly, his personal and professional interactions with us.

I talked to represtitive in October and they took my case. It's now only February and they have already sent a deposition to the VA. I'm sure I will get my disability upgraded with the very professional deposition.. I highly recommend this law firm for any Vet looking to upgrade their disability.

John Tucker helped me win my appeal on my Long Term Disability case. He really went after Cigna for me. He knew exactly the types of experts to hire, and he got my disability started again after Cigna cut me off. His assistant Dana was the best too. I could not recommend them more.

Anne Ricke has been the best. She has helped me with my elder father and his brother with estates, trusts, durable power of attorney, and summary of administration (handling estates with no will). If you need any of these complex legal services I expect Anne would be most helpful to you too.

Anne Ricke is wonderful at what she does. I was helping my client get on Medicaid and it was a grueling experience, to say the least. Anne helped me by explaining everything in laymans terms so I could understand. She is patient and I never felt rushed or brushed off.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Saint Petersburg, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
