Mr. Slicker is a man of great character and after reading his reviews and followed by a free consultation, I chose him to represent me in my divorce appeal, filed by the ex, and so very happy I did. When you read his upstanding merits of helping others and talking with him, you too will see he’s not just about the money. But doing good for others. His expertise and high character, I feel, is well known in the community and the court system which speaks volumes. My ex dragged my case on for many years filing nonstop extensions with rehearings and appeals. Anything he could do to avoid. I thought it would never come to close. Mr. Slicker was my second lawyer for the appeal process. There was no constant lawyer fees, it was a set retainer fee and very reasonable. I feel he’s very understanding of people’s situations. He’s not a big talker, but you’ll feel he gets you. He’s quick on taking action and filing. He gets it done. I won the appeal and he assisted in recovering the awarded money. I’m forever grateful to Mr. Slicker and his assistant. It’s a small practice which is awesome and they are the perfect team. You will not be disappointed.

Mr Slicker is one of the best in his field. He always makes it very clear as to what papers you will need to have in order for him to complete the job for you. I called his office many times, during our situation, needing him to answer one of my many questions, and he always called back quickly. Amanda would also help with answering our question whenever she could. She and Mr. Slicker make a really great team, and we thank them both for all they did! I would recommend them highly!

Mr. Slicker is the most efficient attorney I've ever met. He handled a rather complicated quiet title suit for my company, and obtained a favorable final judgement in record time. Mr. Slicker is trustworthy, extremely knowledgeable, assertive, and goal oriented. There is only one attorney in my phonebook: William Denton Slicker!

I hired Attorney William Slicker for a Quite Title Action case that involved Family discoid and that had been proven in the past never to result in a Settlement, yet alone a Settlement that conveyed my best interest and that would WIN the case in my favor! I hired TWO previous lawyers that resulted in a stand still in the case. Upon hiring Attorney Slicker, immediately the case begin to move forward without incidence. He took actions RIGHT AWAY, by filing motions that resulted in the case moving forward. He is a very Wise and concise lawyer. He never makes a judgement call without explaining his reasoning for his decicisions while making sure you are comfortable and addressing your concerns, as well. He considers any suggestions that you may have as oppose to just dismissing your thoughts because he is held in a higher regard due to his educational credentials. My case would have NEVER been Settled without his Wisdom and Expertise. He is PROMPT and PREPARED for all Court apperances.

I hired Donnie recently in Pinellas County and I'm beyond grateful I did. He was proactive immediately after taking over my case. From the very beginning, he made me feel like he truly cared and wasn't in it just for the money. I remember Donnie told me, he'd fight for me 110% and thats exactly what he did!

We hired Donny recently and found him to be professional, very thorough, detailed, and expressed genuine concern for his client and the outcome of the case. In addition, he always returned calls, was dependable, and explained everything in detail. We are very pleased with his representation and results could not have been better. I ran into a situation in Pinellas county. Hired him the next day or so. Yeah, it cost some money. Very much worth it. He totally gave me a worry free representation. I didn't even show up for a single court date. He conveyed what needed to be conveyed to whomever it needed to be conveyed to understand the dynamics of what was really going on in the case. And he won. Has the right legal foundation. Aggressive approach. Hard working. He has a complete network. Lot of years working with all of the different outfits that concern law in his area. Stop looking for any other attorney right now. You just hire this guy cuz I said so.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Saint Petersburg, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
