I am very happy I decided to go with Scott Herring as my lawyer! I had talked to a large firm before deciding to go with Herring & Herring and couldn't be more pleased. They made me feel important and not just another number. I was involved in a bad car accident and he took very good care of my case. Scott fought to get me the justice I deserved when the insurance company was being unreasonable. He is very knowledgeable, keeps you informed and he has your best interest at heart. I will definitely recommend Scott Herring to my family and friends!

I worked with Scott and his father (Michael Herring Sr.) when I was falsely accused of a domestic violence crime. Both Scott and his father fought to prove my innocence aggressively. Scott was extremely knowledgeable about the law and went above and beyond to explain the details of my case to me. He was successful in getting my charges dropped. The whole team (Mike, Scott, and Nell) truly care about their clients and will fight to represent their best interests.

I had my fist DUI with no prior convictions or tickets. This was a very embarrassing matter to me and could of been detrimental to my career growth amongst other things. I had counsel from other high profile lawyers but went with Scott based on the Family oriented office that he belong to in practicing with his father (who's proven successful) and managed by mother who was extremely compassionate. Scott handled my case with a seasoned professional approach that gave me peace of mind in every interaction. His knowledge about every aspect and scenarios was impressive. His approach was prompt, thought out and effective in every step of the way. In the end when I blew a 1.52 and made a terrible mistake in my life in possibly harming others, Scott was able to convey and properly present my case in which I got it to Pre-Trial Diversion and now will not show on my record at all. Please take this recommendation and call Scott and family so that you too can see the wonderful work that he and his family can do for you as they did for me. LPHW

It was under unfortunate cirumstances for me that I came to Herring and Herring, but Scott made my difficult situation as easy as possible to deal with. He answered all of my questions and was always available to talk about any and all of my concerns. He showed so much compassion and understanding about my situation. He made a bad situation so much easier for me to deal with. I felt like he was there to protect my well-being as well as to fight for me and my situation. I felt stronger and empowered, with him by my side. I didn't feel like just a client to him, I could really feel that he cared about me and wanted to make wrongs that were do to me, right in every way. He was patient, kind and knowledgeable. I would recommend him as a great lawyer.

Rachel and her team did an awesome, profession job of managing my divorce this year (2017). I found them to be effective, affordable and easy to work with. Rebecca did an excellent job of keeping me in the loop. I always I knew what was going on and when I had questions, she was very responsive. They are clearly technical experts in family law and how it is implemented in Florida. The fact that Rachel also has a strong financial background ( CPA ), is an extra benefit that insures there are no financial issues. I highly recommend Rachel’s firm.

Rachel handled my divorce this year (2014). This was an exceedingly difficult time in my life after the break up of a 25 year marriage. Rachel and her staff (Rebecca), were always professional, knowledgeble, compassionate and resourceful. They held my hand through the process but were all about business and holding all parties accountable. I would and do recommend Rachel to anyone needing an outstanding divorce attorney that knows the law inside and out and has the added benefit that as a CPA, understands complex financial statements.

Attorney Ryan Yadav is hands down one of the best attorneys that anyone could hire. I put my full trust in him and his paralegal Kiana for a trial that was very complicated and they walked me through the process and made me feel like I was a part of their family. I felt cared for and secure in their hands. Ryan Not only WON my case with jury trial, but proved my innocence. In a time of my life that I was in shambles with my professional career on the line and so much stress with the push back of the prosecutors trying to prosecute me harshly. Furthermore, we were able to successfully win the trial case with a NOT guilty verdict and my life has so many weights lifted. His defense argument was of the highest quality I have ever seen, and I know Attorney Yadav did it with his whole heart and gave everything he had in that courtroom! Words cannot express the gratitude I have for both him and his paralegal Kiana. My best advice is to not look any further for an attorney stop right here and hire attorney Yadav. He never has disappointed, his passion for his career speaks volumes. Thank you so much for everything! You are THE BEST IN THE JUDICIAL SYSTEM!

I am in the pretrial stage for an alledged felony. Things are tense to say the least. I have done everything Ryan has told me not because I am angry. He hasn't quit me yet. Out of his patience alone, not only his skill set, I would recommend not choosing anyone but Ryan Yadav for your case.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Sanford, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
