I am extremely fortunate to have found Johanne to represent me for my divorce process. Unfortunately, I did have a previous attorney who I had to fire due to his lack of being strategic, horrible communication, and feeling like just a number. We have all heard those stories, and with him it was true.So, I am writing this review while we wait for the Judge’s Order to be finalized. YES, prior to the verdict and Order by the Judge. Therefore, I am writing this glowing review of Johanne regardless of the outcome. From day one, Johanne was strategic and thinking outside the box on our case, which should have settled but my soon to be ex-wife was well... stubborn to put it nicely. Anyway, Johanne was extremely thorough and well prepared throughout the process; even though her home was horribly impacted by multiple hurricanes with the last 2 (Helene and Milton) which was devastating. During court yesterday, she apologized if our divorce exhibits had a musty smell, but she took them with her when she evacuated. Johanne, made sure that I was extremely well prepared along the entire process from mediation, my deposition, digging for info to help her with the deposition of my soon to be Ex, our practice sessions for both my deposition and full day on the stand, as well as calling me out on areas of improvement. Her thoroughness was evident during the trial with her exhibits, questions for me, questions for the ex (which got under my Ex’s skin :-D), her objections, and thinking on the spot with some “drop the mic” moments. BOOM! Versus the other attorney that well…didn’t. This process of over 21 months was not at the fault or lack of attempts by Johanne to have this case settle. As she put it, 99% of cases like mine would settle, unfortunately ours did not. Needless to say, it is a financial and emotional rollercoaster and Johanne was extremely supportive, caring, and a positive influence. She heard me and I felt that she was 100% on my side. We are all human and I love the fact that she recognized that fact, and brainstormed with me to make sure that all the relevant points were covered at various stages of my divorce process. I highly recommend Johanne Shoffstall if you are looking for a strategic, hardworking, professional and caring attorney. Thank you so much Johanne!!!

Johanne saved me. I was married to a control freak. She knew just how to handle him and the slimy lawyers he sought out. It took two years to get free from him, but she did it. It has been over 20 years now and my son has completely grown up. Up until 2010 my ex-husband with whom she freed me would never quit. But he finally quit in July 2010 when he came to the state where I live now and committed suicide. But before he did and since he was divorced from the woman with which he had an affair on me and subsequently married, he was fighting her too. He went as far as starting a non-profit company to present a front that he was being alienated from his children. He was a master at presenting himself to be a very upstanding person. But it was not real. What was real was that he was a monster and alcohol abuser. In his fight with the second ex-wife, he moved all of his assets into his mother's name. She helped him with no hesitation. Then when he died, she claimed he did not have anything and kept everything that should have been the property of the children. Now 8 years after his death, the 2nd ex-wife (his lover and co-worker) is getting her dues from being so mean to me. Their house they lived in together is being foreclosed and I have a lien on it for past due child support. So, I was served to appear for the foreclosure. It is going to get very ugly because this is the woman's second foreclosure, second husband, second or third bankruptcy, etc. She just does not pay any bills and looks for men with whom she thinks has money. This may be my very last chance to get my past due child support from the sale of this house. I was represented by the DOJ, and when my ex-husband died, they dropped the case and refuse to go after the estate that was swindled by the mother. They call it shady but they can't do anything. Needless to say the 2nd ex wife has got an attorney for this who is running as a Democrat for the office of Florida Attorney General. Great Day!!! What can I do now??? Johanne beat this control freak. She is the best!!! I will probably contact her for advise because she is not just a GREAT attorney, she is a friend, and she never forgets.

Johanne represented me when I had a business problem. She was vey responsive, competent and she really cared to resolve everything as fast as possible and for the least amount of money. It worked and I couldn't be happier. I highly recommend her to anyone who needs a good attorney who actually cares.

Simply put, if you are looking for a lawyer who will fight for you, Johanne is that person. Johanne represented me five years ago during my divorce/custody case. Recently the case was reopened by my ex-husband and she represented me again. I was extremely nervous going into the courtroom, however, within a matter of minutes and to my amazement Johanne was able to articulate a time line to the judge in detail of what happened five years ago to the present. I was so shocked because I couldn't believe that a lawyer who I had no contact with for over five years could recall DETAILED information as if it was yesterday about my case. She fought for my son's safety as if he was her own son. I remember sitting there feeling so overwhelmed, however, once Johanne finished speaking on my behalf, a sense of peace came over me. Also, Johanne has the best paralegal staff in all of Hillsborough County, if there was something that requried research or if they needed more information they didn't hestitate to call me. I always had the feeling that there was a team of people working on my behalf, and at the end of the day the job was done.

I used Johanne as my divorce attorney. She was able to handle a very difficult time in my life with the utmost professionalism and care that I had not seen in the profession. I had another attorney before using Johanne and was amazed at how efficient, respectful, and knowledgeable she was. The office staff that she has surrounded herself with are top notch. No matter what type of question or request I had her office handled it quickly. There was not a detail left out, nor was I ever ignored. This is, hands down, one of my favorite family law attorneys in the Tampa area. She has always proved to me she has a working and up-to-date knowledge of all aspects of family law. I have had personal experience with her in the areas of relocation, parental alienation, dissolution, paternity, time sharing, custody, child support, temporary relief, emergency motions, etc. etc. etc. If she doesn't know it . . . she and her staff learn it and do so quickly. She is an aggressive litigator that will not judge her client, but will rather fight for what her client believes to be to be in the best interest of the client and the client's child. This I believe to be a major attribute in any attorney. I have seen her and her staff work hard to help the client achieve his/her desired result. Moreover, another great attribute is her ability to be strategic. She is excellent at “playing her hand” and only revealing certain cards to the other side at the right time. This is such an important skill in family law. Indeed, I have seen the look of shock on opposing counsel’s face in at least one case during a trial.
