I recently met with Mr. Hannah to discuss my EEOC discrimination case, against a governmental agency. I explained to Mr. Hannah that we needed to file the case within 90 days, but he explained to me that if he doesn’t meet the deadline we have a 4 year statue of limitation to file. Mr, Hannah was very knowledgeable, professional, organized, and gave me his undivided attention. After our consultation, I hired Mr. Hannah to represent me. Mr. Hannah explained the process and kept me abreast throughout the case. Approximately two weeks later, Mr. Hannah sent me an email informing me of the steps and that he needed to speak to me for clarification before he generate the complaint. Mr. Hannah stated he would generate the complaint and send it to me for his review. After our second meeting, Mr. Hannah said that he reviewed most of my case file and had a few questions. I answered his questions and he stated he would work in my civil complaint and email me a draft to review. During that conversation, I asked Mr. Hannah could he make sure that we meet the deadline. Mr. Hannah also ordered my case file from the EEOC and said he’ll work on my complaint. Three days before the deadline, Mr, Hannah sent me an email stating that he needed to ask more questions about my case before he generate my civil complaint. Mr. Hannah explained that he will not be able to meet my deadline on September 5th, 2021. Mr. Hannah explained that he will be going out of town on vacation and won’t be back until September 17,2021. Mr. Hannah and I spoke, I believe on September 2, 2021 regarding my case. Mr. Hannah stated that after careful review of my case, he believe that I needed a civil rights attorney and workers Comp attorney and he didn’t feel comfortable moving forward on my case. He offered to assist me with finding an attorney. Initially, I declined because I was going back to California, but I decided to stay in Florida, I sent Mr. Hannah an email requesting his assistance in finding an attorney. Although I was disappointed that he didn’t represent me, I appreciate the effort made in assisting me. Mr. Hannah refunded my retainer fees, and files. He also sent a nice letter breaking down his cost, statue of limitations date, and explaining what type of lawyer that I needed. I really wished that Mr. Hannah would have pursued my case and hired a Civil rights attorney to assist him. He has proven himself to be trust worthy and that’s my biggest fear I hiring the right attorney. I have confident that he would have prevailed i my case, but I certainly respect his decision. Although it didn’t work out, I would still recommend his services. Again, thank you

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Ms. Sherri B. Simpson for ANY LEGAL Work you might need. Ms. SIMPSON IS OUTSTANDING---IN EXPERTISE, RESPONSIVNESS, COMMUNICATION, FOLLOW-UP, NEGOTIATION, HONESTY, AND GETTING ANTICPATED RESULTS FOR HER CLIENTS!!! (I started out with a terrible attorney who was not responsive, unprepared and never kept me informed. I had failed to Google him. (Had I done so, I would have found numerous customer complaints). Even though I had already paid in full and in advance $3,500, I had to make a change. I conducted an extensive search of the BEST attorneys I could find in Florida and finally found Mrs. Sheri B. Simpson. She was also highly recommended by several varying third parties (some attorneys and some customers). I also Googled her and was able to find in writing customer reviews and reviews by other attorneys. All of the reviews were positive. I met with her and went over my whole case. She listened and took notes. She didn't tell me just what I wanted to hear...she was factual and realistic. She was caring and and very helpful to my situation. It was very clear she was an expert in her field, but she made time for me through out and never brushed me off to her assistant. I got VIP service all the way through. She took my calls same day and answered my emails within 24 hours with complete, accurate and factural answers. Once, she communicated with me via' email at night because she was in court all week. In my experience with other attorneys, she routinely went beyond the call of duty to give the best service to her clients. She expalined not only what we were doing but also explained the process in detail. She took the extra time to insure that our case was prepared to the best level that it could be. She provided me extra tools that no other attorney had ever offered me---tools to help me determine the exact value of my assets---she gave me clarification and guidance that literally saved me hundreds of hours of research. She was also very accurate in her estimates with me as to what I could expect to pay regarding her legal fees. Therefore, there were NO money surprises down the road. In addition, she gave me timely advice and counsel that saved me thousands of dollars in legal fees. Further, when it came time to negotiate a settlement, not only did she have the skills of the best diplomat and negotiator, but she was able to navigate a mutually beneficial path for all sides, that led to a fair and quick settlement. I could tell in the process that she was respected by the other side as being fair, reasonable and equal in expertise. This helped to promote a fair and quick settlement. This legal affair that I went through was the single most stressful thing in my entire life, and I still THANK GOD every day for leading me to MS. SIMPSON. Not a day day goes by, that I don't think kindly toward MS. SIMPSON for the GREAT legal work, patience, compassion, helpfulness, follow-up, her timely communications with me and all the great counsel she gave me!!!! There are literally hundreds of attorneys out there and most seem to have the expertise, BUT that is NOT enough! What good is expertise if you can't communicate with your attorney? Or your attorney never calls you back? Or your attorney does not answer your emails? Or your attorney passes you off to his assistant who cant give you the correct information? Or your attorney is not prepared at trial for your case? It is my opinion that you will never have these problems with Mrs. SIMPSON. Ms. Simpson is an Expert, BUT she is ALSO VERY ATTENTIVE to the legal and Communication NEEDS of her clients!!! This is what makes MS. SIMPSON truly OUTSTANDING and among the BEST in the Industry! Franchesca Caminero and her team were super knowledgeable and helpful throughout my whole treatment process and all throughout my case! They made me feel comforted and safe through this process. There was a lot I was dealing with all at once, and I wouldn't have been able to get through it without this team. Thank you Caminero Law for everything you did and ensuring I got what I deserved!

Mr. Koenig was a dedicated attorney that helped my family through a very trying time. He guided us through every aspect of the laws surrounding insurance companies, erroneous third parties, and personal injury. The insurance company that my parents used erroneously denied my and suddenly he passed away during the appeal. Mr. Koenig presented every scenario to our case and made it so that everything was clear and he was always available to respond to our questions. A successful, well organized, supportive attorney. I recommend him to anyone standing in front of difficult circumstances.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Sunrise, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
