My family and I were involved in a car accident and they were the first call we made. They made the entire legal process very easy and smooth and answered every question we had plus more. They truly work their hardest for you so that you’re able to sit back and never lift a finger! Thank you for everything!

Dale and Angela, along with the rest of their team did an awesome job with our case. They worked well with our other legal team that got us to this point, then they, working with our other team finished it to our complete satisfaction. We are grateful!

There aren't enough stars on Google to accurately represent how I feel about Swope, Rodante P.A. In 2000, I was permanently injured in a car accident at the age of 17. I first met Mr. Dale Swope from my hospital bed at Tampa General. After another law firm determined they could only get policy limits for my catastrophic injury, Mr. Swope and his team took on my case and fought for 4 long years on my behalf. Needless to say, they won and some of the wrong that happened to me was able to be set right. I still live with my injury, but I am able to take care of myself and my daughter because of their fight. To this day, Mr. Swope responds to my emails (at all hours!) and has even become a champion in the paralysis community. He does not have to do any of that because he was already and will always be my personal champion. I am forever grateful our paths crossed. I am sorry if you are in a position to need the services of a catastrophic injury attorney for yourself or a loved one, but I can unequivocally say you will be taken care of and FOUGHT for by the entire team at Swope, Rodante.

Swope and Rodante is not your typical law firm. While many firms advertise on billboards or bus stop benches about how much money they’ve gotten clients, not Swope and Rodante. They truly hold themselves to the highest standard attorneys are meant to hold themselves too. They really care about getting you justice in the lowest point of your life. Not only are the attorneys top notch, respectable, and justice driven, but the legal assistants and team leaders are amazing. Specifically, Wendy Powell. Wendy is the most responsive, and caring person you will ever meet. You have a question? She has an answer. And if she doesn’t have it, she will make sure to ask on your behalf. The amount of work and dedication that she put into my case was phenomenal. The kind of dedication that you will not find in any other firm. Mr. Swope is fierce. Legally, he could argue circles around opposing counsel. Personally, he is compassionate and understanding. I would hate to be in closing arguments on the other side of Mr. Swope. Ms. Shoemaker will take the time out of her day on Sunday to talk you through everything that happens in proceedings. She is kind, and has never made me feel like my questions were silly. Her attention to detail is otherworldly. These attorneys know what they’re doing, inside and outside the courtroom. If I had the opportunity to travel back in time to chose a different law firm, I would not. They truly are family now, and I will never be able to express my sincerest gratitude for them. I express my gratitude to the entire team at Swope and Rodante. Because when you hire them, you’re not just getting one attorney, you are getting the entire firm on your side. Chose Swope and Rodante. Chose a firm that believes in you and your fight for true justice.

Dina, met a very high standard in Availability, Attitude, and Ability. I call it three tools. Also feel free to use me for a recommendation as / from an out of town Dad who was looking for trusted counsel for a loved one in a legal bind due to driving offenses with related parole violation.

Dina worked with my wife and I when an unfortunate incident occurred and we had some outstanding traffic violations for toll roads. Mrs. Sheridan gave me a fair quote and did not charge anything additional to the wage we agreed upon. She was professional throughout the entire process and kept us both informed as things progressed. Having a great deal of experience working with attorneys both professionally and personally, it is definitely refreshing to be able to reach and receive timely responses from hired council. I would highly recommend Dina Busciglio Sheridan for any traffic offense cases.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Tampa, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
