Mark Rodriguez was a guiding light of hope to me and my family at a time when our outlook was dim. He handled our case with absolute professionalism and when the likelihood of a positive outcome seemed impossible he showed us compassion and stood strong as our advocate until a fair resolution was reached. He was in constant contact so that there was never a doubt as to the status of our case and his approach always had our best interest in mind – both personally and financially. His above and beyond approach not only got us to a resolution, but his continued support after the resolution of the case ensured that there were no loose ends to worry about. I am forever grateful for his empathetic approach and his support during such a difficult time and would recommend him without reservation.

Mark Rodriguez represented me when I took my ex-husband back to court for non-payment of child support and other violations of our divorce agreement. It was a complicated case, because my two children were involved in a cross complaint my ex-husband filed, accusing me of blocking his shared custody. Mark Rodriguez handled everything with confidence. He was obviously well respected by everyone in court, including the judge. I am positive that his competence, demeanor and reputation was what convinced my ex to settle things in mediation. He agreed to everything I wanted and dropped all of his cross complaints. Mark Rodriguez made sure to follow up with the opposing lawyer as well, and made sure everything was carried out as we had agreed in the mediation. I could not possibly have asked for more. I would absolutely recommend him to anyone needing a great family law attorney.

Mark prepared a pre-marital agreement for me. He was very responsive and helpful throughout the process. I am an attorney myself and have seen good and bad ones throughout my career. He is one I recommend.

A few years ago my husband filed for divorce. I learned of this through Mark Rodriguez after a friend had advised me to talk to him. He told me of my options and I chose to follow his advice. The process was grueling and something I found to dread on a daily basis. I'm not the most organized person, and am quite technically challenged. Mark was patient with me through those issues and many others. After what seemed like forever, all parties finally came to an agreement. Sadly, one year and a day later, my ex filed for modification. So again, there we were, back in the throws of was actually worse than divorce. Again, Mark was patient and handled everything, as usual, and when we returned to court in fron of the Chief Magistrate, he not only showed true knowledge and professionalism. He was more than prepared and came to the table again, with more than I could have expected, and we prevailed. I cannot thank Mark more. I, and most likely Mark, am quite sure my ex will again, try to get out of following both Judge and Magistrate's rulings, as much as I pray daily that he doesn't and I, without a doubt, will count on Mr. Rodriguez to save me. I highly recommend Mark Rodriguez, as I'm sure he can handle anything, even while dealing with my ex's sneaky shenanigans. So, thank you Mr. Mark Rodriguez, Esq.

When I was laid off from job of many years, I called upon Mark to represent me in a motion to modify durational alimony that I was paying to my former husband (FH). My FH remarried while the case was pending, but a heavier burden was placed upon us to prove a substantial change in circumstances not contemplated at the final judgment, due to the existence of a Marital Settlement Agreement (MSA). I amassed a wealth of evidence proving misrepresentation of financials and life circumstance by FH that I yearned to show the court, but Mark kept me on-task. Mark instilled in me the necessity of a case that was clear, credible and relevant, and he personally summarized hundreds of pages into a clear and simplified presentation. This proved to be a winning strategy that met our evidentiary burden, leading to an un-appealed termination of my alimony obligation, and was less costly. I was truly amazed by Mark’s retention of the facts from my original divorce. Mark was readily accessible, and always maintained a high degree of integrity and professionalism throughout the 1 year 8 month ordeal of stall tactics and road blocks. Thank you, Mark G. Rodriguez, for lifting this weight from my shoulders.

Dina, met a very high standard in Availability, Attitude, and Ability. I call it three tools. Also feel free to use me for a recommendation as / from an out of town Dad who was looking for trusted counsel for a loved one in a legal bind due to driving offenses with related parole violation.

Dina worked with my wife and I when an unfortunate incident occurred and we had some outstanding traffic violations for toll roads. Mrs. Sheridan gave me a fair quote and did not charge anything additional to the wage we agreed upon. She was professional throughout the entire process and kept us both informed as things progressed. Having a great deal of experience working with attorneys both professionally and personally, it is definitely refreshing to be able to reach and receive timely responses from hired council. I would highly recommend Dina Busciglio Sheridan for any traffic offense cases.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Tampa, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
