I worked with Traci on establishing paternity and requesting 100% physical custody of my 3 year old daughter. Her mother has been battling severe mental illness and is not capable of parenting at the moment. Traci was incredible to work with. Top notch communication, always responded quickly to any questions I had. Worked with Tara as well during the final hearing and Tara was well prepared and knew all of the facts like the back of her hand. I would 100% recommend Traci Koster and her team. I couldn't envision the process having gone any better. Don't mess around with something so important. Call Koster Legal and you won't be disappointed.

I am so glad I chose Traci and her team to represent me. Table stakes in a divorce is competency in the law. The difference maker for me is Traci's approach -- she is calm, she is fair, and she brings those qualities and approach to all parties in the process -- me, opposing counsel and by proxy, my ex. The impact of that to the journey was huge. Traci and her team calmly guided me through the most disruptive event in my life. Grateful.

Divorce is death. Coping with death can be very stressful. This happened to me. Thankfully, and providentially, I was introduced to family law attorney, Traci Koster, to help guide me through this very difficult time. She was exactly what I needed. Tough, authentic, realistic, sympathetic, detailed but simentanesouly able to look at the wholistic picture; reminding me of the end game - she was great! She, by far, sets a standard for other attorneys to follow, especially in regard to leading in integrity. She fought for me when I did not feel like fighting any longer. As a result of her diligence, she won what I wanted and even obtained far more than I could have ask for at the end of my divorce. My children and I will forever be grateful for Traci's unmatched advocacy! -Miranda

I found Traci when no other lawyer could help me with my divorce, which was complex. She listened to my concerns and understood exactly what I needed to see happen. She always returned my phone calls/emails immediately, and gave me great counsel. With Traci's help and hard work, I was finally able to get a divorce with everything I asked for. She is amazing!!!

In the beginning, I did not want to hire a lawyer. But when things become complicated and the law is not what you are familiar with, sometimes it is for the best. I am glad I hired Traci. She was referred by a family friend. After a long, grueling process, Traci pulled through for me. I am hot headed, hot tempered and she was able to calm me and get me through what was the worst part of my life. She reassured me every time I let my ex get to me. She does not sugar coat things which I appreciate. She tells you how it is and what is expected. She helped me build a great case. She was quick to call or email back with any concerns or questions that I had. I hope to never go through this again, but if I had too, I know I can count on Traci.

Dina, met a very high standard in Availability, Attitude, and Ability. I call it three tools. Also feel free to use me for a recommendation as / from an out of town Dad who was looking for trusted counsel for a loved one in a legal bind due to driving offenses with related parole violation.

Dina worked with my wife and I when an unfortunate incident occurred and we had some outstanding traffic violations for toll roads. Mrs. Sheridan gave me a fair quote and did not charge anything additional to the wage we agreed upon. She was professional throughout the entire process and kept us both informed as things progressed. Having a great deal of experience working with attorneys both professionally and personally, it is definitely refreshing to be able to reach and receive timely responses from hired council. I would highly recommend Dina Busciglio Sheridan for any traffic offense cases.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.

While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Tampa, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
