Mr. Faulkner has been such a blessing as my lawyer. He is responsive, ethical, and a kind human being. I love that he gives me honest feedback on our case - I have gone back to him for several requests now over 5 years and I have never been disappointed. He is the best!

Mr. Faulkner helped me tremendously with a time sensitive issue that had the potential to prove disastrous for my family. He took charge, gave excellent counsel and solved the issue positively for all involved in an extremely short period of time. Throughout the process he communicated with me clearly and immediately, translating the "legaleze" into understandable English while keeping me abreast of every development in the case as it occurred. He is clearly a knowledgeable and effective lawyer who can solve problems and make things happen. I highly recommend him.

Mr. Faulkner supported me every step of the way. He offered moral support while providing me with the information needed to follow through with my divorce. He was not pushy, but helped me feel comfortable with my offer. I was impressed with him and his staff from the beginning. But after our mediation, I am beyond impressed. He was calm and composed, without allowing me to me railroaded. I cannot say enough good things about Mr. Faulkner!

We were fortunate enough to retain Mr. David Faulkner as our attorney for countless reasons. However, it is with great pride that I take the time to mention a few. Mr. Faulkner elected to represent a family member in a case, that, for better words, proved to be very complicated. In addition to be a tremendously skilled attorney, in many areas of legal expertise, Mr. Faulkner also proved to be a rich resource in both wisdom and knowledge during our family’s challenging situation. On numerous occasions, when family members were in need of both legal counsel and clarification of next steps, Mr. Faulkner was able to provide assistance with both personal and professional information, relating to the case, so that varied family members were able to grasp the situation at hand, with greater meaning and understanding. Mr. Faulkner was relentless in his pursuit to pinpoint the basic foundational concerns relating to our case and build solid legal positions as we traversed the many complexities of the case as they were presented. Mr. Faulkner is uniquely superior in his craft, which sets him apart from attorneys with a traditional approach, in that he is able to clearly define the problem, address concerns and present best case scenarios, all the while focusing on preservation of the integrity of everyone involved, I would highly recommend Mr. Faulkner as my attorney of choice, regardless of the circumstance. He is truly an individual who brings credibility, at every sense of the word, to the field of legal representation. I, as well as my family members, will forever be grateful to Mr. Faulkner for his impeccable character and his work ethics that invite him to go above and beyond in ensuring that his client has been informed and represented to the best of his ability. I thank you, Mr. Faulkner, from the bottom of my heart and soul, for delivering your caring nature to what could often be viewed as a seemingly rigid profession. You, regardless of the added component of affective compassion, remain steadfast to the task of superior legal representation. Thank you, once more,

Dina, met a very high standard in Availability, Attitude, and Ability. I call it three tools. Also feel free to use me for a recommendation as / from an out of town Dad who was looking for trusted counsel for a loved one in a legal bind due to driving offenses with related parole violation.

Dina worked with my wife and I when an unfortunate incident occurred and we had some outstanding traffic violations for toll roads. Mrs. Sheridan gave me a fair quote and did not charge anything additional to the wage we agreed upon. She was professional throughout the entire process and kept us both informed as things progressed. Having a great deal of experience working with attorneys both professionally and personally, it is definitely refreshing to be able to reach and receive timely responses from hired council. I would highly recommend Dina Busciglio Sheridan for any traffic offense cases.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Tampa, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
