Justin has been amazing in helping me with several legal issues in the past two years. Well after this review I will be needing to contact an attorney about Probate Law. Justin has been very kind to me and has spent time conversing with me over the phone and is knowledgable and well studied in many facets of law and has never failed to provide me the information and contacts needed to work through legal issues as they have arised. All this mentioned above and the fact Ithat Jistin is obviuosly not interested in obtaining a fee unless he can make a difference in the case. I am truly grateful for all Justin has done to help me. Do not hesitate to call on him for your legal needs. Thank You Justin!

I called Justin and left a message and didn’t expect to hear back from him. The next day which happened to be a Friday I received a call back from Justin at 7:30pm, and he wasn’t calling to schedule an appointment he was actually available to speak with myself and my husband and stayed on the phone with us until all our questions were answered. When you are facing a tax lien and looking to purchase a home it’s important that you get advice from someone who is knowledgeable and has experience dealing with the IRS. Justin did not sugar coat or make promises he gave us options and did not pressure us to work with him. We look forward to working with Justin in the near future.

I hired Justin to file an appeal to the IRS for a Civil Penalty, which was a substantial amount of money for my business. After speaking with me and obtaining my documentation, he wrote a compelling appeal including all the facts and case law and he won my case for me an my business. I could not have done this without his assistance. Justin was a true professional, returning my calls and emails timely and I am so satisfied with his services and highly recommend.

Brian is a humble attorney but gets things done from the beginning. He has lots of experience, is very charismatic, and works with his wife Dawn who has just as much, if not more experience. This Duo team with blow others out of the water with their experience. Courtroom knowledge keeps others on their toes and personal case and Florida Statute hands on briefs kept me raving to others what great attorneys I had!!!

Navigating through a divorce can be one of the most challenging periods in anyone's life, but having Brad McDonald as my attorney made the process significantly more bearable. Brad is not only immensely knowledgeable about the intricacies of family law, but he also brings a level of support and understanding that is invaluable during such a sensitive time. From the outset, Brad was thoroughly informative, guiding me through each step of the legal process, a terrain I was completely unfamiliar with. His commitment to my best interests gave me the confidence to often say, "whatever you think is best," trusting his judgment implicitly. Brad was more than just a lawyer; he was a steadfast advocate who stood up for me at a critical time in my life. For anyone facing the daunting journey of divorce, I highly recommend Brad McDonald. His professionalism and empathy are truly commendable, and I am profoundly grateful for his guidance and support.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Valrico, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
