I have known Adam Zipper and their office for quite some time. I recommend and refer, as an attorney, all my real estate matters to their office! Not only are they extremely professional, but they are the most knowledgeable real estate attorneys and title company that I have worked with. I have no hesitation to give their office name out to all of my clients when it comes to real estate matters...they are wonderful!

I had an opportunity to work with this firm on number of occasions. For rental properties sale I dealt with Mr. Adam Zipper and Gina Santiago and others on number of times. For one rental property I had legal problem with the insurance company and dealt with Mr. Barton Strock. All my closings were done on time, very smoothly and professionally. For legal issue, it was done professionally and I WON THE CASE. Wonderful, efficient, professional people. 5 Star rating. Mike Shah, Shah Real Estate Group LLC.

In the world of real estate, complexities such as title defects, liens, and violations can surface during the title and closing processes. This is precisely when the knowledge and experience of an excellent attorney is necessary to ensure that a transaction successfully closes. Over the years the experienced attorneys at Strock & Cohen, Zipper Law Group have expertly guided myself, my family, friends and clients navigate through complexities, and strategically formulated resolutions for situations that surfaced during the closing process. Aside from the vast knowledge base, Bart, Adam and Julie are truly kind and caring individuals who stop at nothing to provide a stellar experience to the sellers, buyers, tenant and landlords who they represent. I cannot say enough good things about the caliber and quality of services that this talented group of attorneys and their office staff bring to the table. I recommend them wholeheartedly.

I would like to acknowledge and say 'thank you' to Attorney Adam Zipper and Kari Pinilla for their excellent service when we closed on our home. Not to sound cliché, but went above and beyond! Here is my personal experience with this firm. We were scheduled to close on a specific date, however, while conducting a title search they found a lien on my property, which was placed in error by my lender. My lender had accidentally filed two mortgages (the same one twice) and only filed one satisfaction of mortgage when I refinanced my home. Fast forward, we were going to be unable to close on time nor obtain title insurance unless a second satisfaction of mortgage was filed. This firm went to bat for me, literally. Kari called my lender everyday until the issue was finally resolved. Long story short, we closed on time!! Thank you so much Adam and Kari for going above and beyond! I recommend this firm 100% without a doubt.

Arlene & Gary Lazarus have been the best attorneys I have ever had the pleasure of working with. They are always available 24/7 with answers to any of my questions or concerns. I have been working with them for over 10 years and they have always gotten me the maximum amount for everyone of my lawsuits! There’s a reason I have stuck with them so long and have referred several Of my own clients their way as well. Their staff is always helpful and friendly and when it comes to something as serious as an accident and injuries you only want the best on your case.

Mr. Gary Lazarus represented me for a personal injury I sustained. Throughout the process he was professional, kind and respectful of both myself and my husband. Mr. Lazarus was able to thoroughly explain the laws and procedures that applied to my situation. He always made me feel I was a priority and any calls to either him, his partner Arlene Lazarus, or office staff were promptly returned. Everyone was helpful and courteous. I would recommend both Gary Lazarus and Arlene Lazarus to anyone seeking legal advice.

Joe Heimovics has been corporate counsel for my firm for over 10 years and I am pleased to provide this review and recommendation. During that period he has provided legal services spanning all corporate legal matters including litigation, acquisitions, divestitures, shareholder matters, human resources, conracts as well as a host of other corporate legal matters. Without exception the legal services provided by Joe have been exemplary. As a corporate client I have found Joe's business acumen combined with his exceptional legal skills invaluable, not only providing our legal service needs but becoming a highly regarded business advisor to my firm.

I had the pleasure of working with Brett Kaplan to negotiate a severance agreement with my former employer. From our initial consultation to the final signing of the agreement, Brett was friendly, approachable, and always available to answer my questions. His negotiation skills and knowledge of employment law resulted in a significantly better severance package than I was originally offered. I'm grateful for his guidance and advocacy during a challenging time. Thank you, Brett!

I reached out to Attorney Kaplan when I needed my severance package to be negotiated. He’s very detailed and was willing to take on the case. Meticulous in his approach and had all angles covered. Negotiated with my employer’s lawyers and was able to get a favorable settlement at the end of it. Will recommend!

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Weston, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
