It has been a positive experience working with Barbara Schreibman. I love the fact that she is easy to reach, knowledgeable, and always looks up for her client's best interest.

I have known and have worked with Barbara Shreibman for nearly a decade. She is extremely professional, knowledgeable, capable, experienced and lightning speed responsive (this is very rare among most attorneys). Barbara has worked on a wide variety of issues for us from creating contracts and trade practices, to dealing with insurance companies, incorporation, sale of businesses and assets to patents and trademarks. These are just some of the types of issues I can rattle off the top of my head that she has handled for us. In our business I have dealt with literally hundreds of attorneys and frankly I can hardly stand any of them. Barbara is different. She actually cares about her clients. Imagine a smart, capable, professional and pleasant attorney who says what she does and does what she says. They do exist. That is why after nearly 10 years Barbara Shreibman has been and continues to be our attorney. Look no further.

I use Barbara Schreibman as counsel for various issues, but most recently she reviewed a commercial lease agreement for my company. Mrs. Schreibman provided a very detailed review, and I was able to substantially improve my terms as a result. I would definitely recommend her services.

Barbara is an exceptional Attorney, she handled my case from A to Z with professionalism, ethics, honesty and providing transparent analysis and recommendations of next steps without hesitation. She is a highly highly–accomplished and respected Attorney with a consistently successful track record, her strength in understanding the needs of customers in challenging situations through relationship building and customer management have enabled her to be trustworthy and reliable. I strongly recommend Barbara for any Attorney's services.

Had him take over a case from a shyster lawyer who was hustling us for months stalling on settlement and running up fees. Keith was knowledgeable firm and honest in his dealings, and we soon mediated and signed a settlement within a month. It was not an ideal resolution financially but considering the options it was the right move. I wish I had hired him from the start, the case would have had a better outcome and ended much sooner. His billing was fair and he did not overcharge as many others do.

Keith Grumer treated our case as if he were protecting a family member and always behaved in an extremely professional manner. We were always kept well informed of every detail of our case and Keith made sure we understood what he was doing and why. Our calls were always promptly returned and no question ever went unanswered. He acted fast when time was a factor and gave us peace of mind to live our daily lives without fear of our opponent. Our overall experience of being clients of Mr. Grumer for over four years has been very pleasant under unfortunate circumstances and we would most defiantly recommend Keith to anyone in need of a well versed and highly intelligent litigation attorney.

The firm has been very helpful in keeping my disability claim running smoothly. Any information that the insurance company wanted was given to them in a timely matter. Any request for information from me or my doctor was asked for and received when the doctors appointment was done.

When I first started looking for a disability Attorney I had no idea where to start ! I was 24 years old! Being so young it seem like it was 10x harder I had appealed 2x and was denied. I talked with Jay and he explained everything to me and how the process would go. Jay was always down to earth and upfront and honest ! His legal assistant Sonia was the same, any questions I had she was there to get me my answers because of them I no longer lhave to worry about keeping up with all the paper work and things that come with being disabled. I honestly can say this law firm is very passionate with what they do and you would be in amazing hands to work with anyone in this office!! Thank you all so much !

Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Weston, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
