Pros
1
Aggressive advocate for clients to get desired ongoing care or settle their case, while explaining realistic expectations and options
“He was an aggressive advocate for his clients to get either ongoing care that you desire or settle your case and explain your options and "Realistic " expections as well as clear explanations of how your decision will affect you from that point forward.”
2
Highly knowledgeable about workers compensation laws, especially the Heart and Lung Bill, and able to secure approved procedures and benefits that were previously denied
“The Kelley Law Group has been amazing in making sure that the benefits the Dade County/Florida PBA fought to get first responders were paid. At every hiccup, they were and continue to be there for me. They were instrumental in getting procedures approved that were originally denied and benefits paid that were originally denied. Mr. Kelley and his staff's knowledge of the Heart and Lung Bill and worker's compensation laws are impressive.”
3
Excellent communication and keeps clients informed throughout the process
“I felt like my case just went from inactive to active and W/C now had to answer for there failures. To keep it short, Paul Kelley handled every aspect of my case, and last week we settled for a rather surprising amount, which was about 20 times more than the original offer. Paul and his Firm kept me updated on my case and produced results.”
4
Puts clients' best interests first and provides personalized attention
“It was nice to be represented by someone who actually has your best interest at heart.”
5
Highly recommended by previous clients for his expertise and professionalism
“I would just like to give a sincere THANK YOU to Paul and his Staff for all their hard work.”

Let me begin this review by explaining that I had an EXTREMELY rough case to overcome due to an unrelated attorney I had hired prior to Mr. Kelley. My case was also very unique in its level of difficulty in general, so that also added to the likelihood that I would not see a successful outcome. At the recommendation of the PBA, I retained Kelley Law Group and was consulted by Mr. Kelley on a different direction he thought we should take in relation to my case. He was upfront and honest with me in his belief that my case may not be winnable due to several errors made by others and myself prior. He was NOT there just to take my money...he appeared 100% compassionate (Workers Comp really put me through the ringer!) and wanted nothing more than to get me the desired outcome I wanted and rightfully deserved. The following was a very unlikely thing for me to personally do but I was at the end of my rope -- I decided to put every ounce of faith into Mr. Kelley and adhere by everything he insisted we do to give my case at least a fighting chance. His professional/legal advice was a Godsend to me. Because of this man's hard work, knowledge of the law and attention to detail, along with the dedication and hard work from all of the employees at Kelley Law Group, I WON MY CASE!! The decision I won has literally changed my life for the best, hands down! If you have been bent over the proverbial barrel by Workmans Comp and even your agency, do yourself a favor and at least call Kelley Law Group for a consultation. The decision to retain Kelley Law Group may have been the best decision I ever made in my career of over 23 years. Thank you to Mr. Kelley and his ENTIRE staff -- you will always be heroes to me! ~Bobby M.

First and foremost obtaining a FRS duty disability it can be a long process and by no means easy. DO NOT ATTEMPT this alone. Laws change all the time Federal, State and Work mans comp. Paul Kelley stays on top of all that! Remember he has 35 years as an Attorney and comes from a law enforcement family. He is no doubt time and money well spent. And during the pandemic Paul and his amazing staff could get calls through to other Attorney, Doctors and State offices effectively. What more could a client ask for? Thanks Paul for helping me get the benefit I am truly deserving of. Sincerely Mark

In 2006, while working as a patrol officer, I had a heart attack on the job. This led to several weeks in the hospital and months of recovery. The City I work for denied my claim under the Heart and Lung Bill. Based upon recommendation from my union, I sought out Paul Kelley to represent me. I did not know it at the time, but this would turn out to be the best decision I have ever made. The city fought ruthlessly to deny my claim; so much so that at one point, I wondered if it was worth the fight. Paul assured me that it was and he was absolutely right. The city continued to deny my claim and Paul took them to court and won. Despite this, the city still denied my claim and appealed. Paul went before the appellate court in Miami, which consisted of a 3 judge panel. All three judges unanimously upheld our win in the lower court. The city now, by court order, recognizes and is responsible for my claim. Since 2006, I have had to have many heart related procedures. I had to retire medically as a police officer. Paul represented me through all of this and negotiated a transition from officer to a civilian administrative position, where I presently continue to work. In 2020, I developed severe heart failure and had to undergo an evaluation for a heart transplant. Paul again represented me throughout this very scary time. Thanks to Paul and his team, I received the medical attention that I needed in a timely manner. Luckily, I did not have to undergo transplantation at this time and am continuing to receive medical therapy. I have had the need for an attorney more than I have ever imagined that I would. I can tell you, Paul is an absolute expert pertaining to the Heart and Lung Bill and Worker's Compensation. Above all else, he is one of the nicest and most caring people you will ever meet. He has put together a team of experts. Connie, Barbara and Kristin are the best! During this recent transplant scare, they worked late hours and did whatever it took to make sure that I got what I needed medically. You absolutely cannot go wrong with choosing Paul to represent you. 14 years after choosing Paul, I still say it was the best decision I have ever made.

I am a 22 year police veteran. I was referred to Mr. Kelley by another police officer. Recently I suffered a cardiac episode while heading to work. I contacted The Kelley law group for assistance because I had a very difficult experience with workers comp many years ago where I made the mistake of trying to deal with them myself. I spoke with Kristian then Connie and then Mr. Kelley. Everything is still new because my case just started. The process has been very smooth and if you call they are never too busy to speak with you. I am glad I retained the Kelly Law Group. I am confident they will be able to assist me through this most difficult time.

The excellent, professional service was outstanding. But..... the personal attention he and his entire group (Connie, Barbara, Kristin), displays (in EVERY) phone call, places a shield of love, respect, and consideration that surpass expectation or any requirement that you thought a Law Groups basis standard should deem a minimum. I was treated like family. No matter how small my question was they greeted me openly, with an explanation/answer making sure I truly understood. Paul is top notch, as well as his team. My case was done in a timely manner and that was very essential for my unique case. The Paul Kelley Law Group is my recommendation to anyone seeking, knowledgeable expertise, undisputed professionalism, well versed in his craft......you've arrived...one stop shop indeed! Forever Your Client, Cynthia

This powerhouse team of Dusty and Natasha is unlike any other. I happened to come across Dusty in a google search desperate for the right person to help me navigate my divorce. In my first conversation with her, I knew she was it. Words don't do her and Natasha justice. Dusty doesn't miss a beat. She KNOWS her stuff, to every detail. She isnt afraid of those attorneys who have like to say alot but do very little. If it wasn't for her, I don't believe I would have equal timesharing of the children. There is a reason she has 5 stars. Trust me, she will be the best decision you ever make. I am the happiest I have ever been because of her and Natasha!

I started with a different law firm and was going no where. I was refers to Dusty Twyman law firm and it was a blessing. Ms. Twyman did not tell me what I was going to get , as the law firm I started with. She explained to me what she was going to do on the consultation that we had before I started with her. After Ms. Twyman fixed all that was wrong from the first law firm and got it all fixed in the court. Then the worst thing that could happen to a parent happened! I sent the information to Ms. Twyman in an email , this was an after hour matter, and Ms. Twyman called me and told me to trust her and let her do her job. I was reluctant and emotions were running high. I took a deep breath and told her I would let her do her job. She fought every battle and told me to keep trusting her. I did. In the end Ms Twyman and Natasha Twyman are the best. They got me through the battle and won the war for the most important person in my life. I cannot thank them enough. If I could give ten stars, this law firm would get it.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Winter Garden, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
