As I was doing my 2024 annual corporate renewal I couldn't believe how quickly time passes. In 2000, 24 years ago, I needed to incorporate my business as quick as possible to land a big contract. I hired Chad Walters to handle all the details of creating the corporation. Knowing the urgency of my needs, he made my case a priority. Because he was able to incorporate my company so quickly, I landed 2 major contracts. I highly recommend Chad. He a great guy, does excellent work and his fees are very reasonable.

I have known Brett my entire life, Brett handled my wife's personal injury action 22 years with great results and no trial. I have referred clients and friends to him for years, and he just closed out my case with a great result even though the other side was under insured. I highly recommend him, he is quick to return calls and his service and knowledge is above par.

I hired Brett to handle two high end auto accident cases for me over a 24 month period. A 2015 Mercedes CLS and an Audi 2015 A7. Both handled well and professionally. He is very adept at diminished value claims in addition to representation. You get to talk to him directly instead of para legals and admin assistance. I appreciate that very much. He was recommended to me by one of the largest law firms in Orlando. If you have high end autos, I recommend Brett to assist you.

Brett Bressler just handled the diminished value claim on my 4 month old Acura TSX which was t-boned on the right passenger side. He came highly recommended by the body shop that repaired my car. Not really knowing much about diminished value, however, I figured the process would take months. Not so! After a quick damage analysis and appraisal, he submitted a demand letter to the counterparty's insurance and obtained the full amount demanded within 2-3 weeks. Brett also kept me fully informed at every step of the process. I would definitely recommend his services to anyone in need.

I recently had the pleasure of working with Jill Schwartz & Associates, P.A. and I can't recommend them highly enough. Jill and John were both phenomenal to work with. From the moment I called their office, I was greeted with professionalism and genuine care for my situation. The amount of empathy and concern was not only evident but heartwarming. This type of care is truly rare in not only todays society, but more so in attorneys. I can say that because I am one. I am an attorney who needed an attorney and Jill & John were truly there for me every step of the way. I felt supported throughout the entire process, which made an extremely challenging time much easier to navigate. What truly stood out was their commitment to achieving the best possible outcome. They went above and beyond, demonstrating not only their legal skills but also their dedication to their clients. I felt like more than just a case number; they truly valued my needs and concerns. I can say with absolute certainty that this law firm truly cares about its people and its clients. They are a rarity and I could not recommend them high enough! If you’re looking for a law firm that provides exceptional service and results, look no further than to Jill Schwartz & Associates. Thank you for everything Jill & John!

Aaron Kottkamp, Sr Client Relations Manager & Marcy Ray, Client Relation Manager are the two dedicated professionals I dealt with from the law office of Jill S Schwartz & Associates, P.A. -they both exceeded expectations with regards to taking the time to review and fully explain my limited options with an employment situation. My goal is not to speak with them again, but if another employment issue arise I will not hesitate to give Aaron and/or Marcy a ring – thank you again…

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Winter Park, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
