To Mr. Bill and Team regarding my case aftermath: I’d like to thank you from the bottom of my heart and helping me getting through a very rough time after my wreck. The way you all handled my case with were patience, compassion, empathy, and attentiveness to all my needs, I can’t thank you enough. I felt nervous at first considering I’d never been through the experience but you made it smooth and easygoing and for someone lives miles away from family, you made a safe space. I can’t thank you all enough for your time and I would recommend you a 10/10. If you need some help, PLEASE reach out to Bill and his team, you will not regret as I have not. If the situation arises, I know exactly who to call. Once again thank you all so much even when thank you just doesn’t even feel enough.

Mr. Tonelli represented me in a personal injury case where I was hit by an under-insured motorist. From the moment he took my case until the successful conclusion, he had a solid game plan, excellent communications, and was always one step ahead of the insurance company. Most of all, I always trusted his judgement which proved to be flawless at the end of the day. You can hire one of the big name TV lawyers but but you probably won't get the same level of personal service. Highest recommendations.

Bill was referred to us by a friend following an accident and we can't describe enough how grateful we are for him and his hard work. He made navigating the complex system of insurance easy on us and made sure that at the end of it all we re-gained what we had lost in our lives. The personal interactions Bill provided to us mattered just as much as the recovery he made sure we received. When our family of 7 was in a seemingly-minor auto accident we were both shocked with how injured we were and shocked to learn that insurance coverage in Florida isn't very victim friendly. Where we grew up, if you're injured, the guilty party pays for everything. The months following the accident were the most difficult months of my life. I am my family's primary income and I was hurt to the point of near constant crying and screaming in pain for months. There were times when I didn't want to live anymore. To say my family suffered because of this does not even crack the ice on what we went through. I'm not an unintelligent person. I have an MBA, I specialize in corporate finances and I make my living helping businesses navigate their finances in order to support business growth but I still struggled to navigate Florida law on accident insurance coverage. Thankfully, Bill really knows his stuff. It's crazy complicated in my brain but to him it was a puzzle that was already put together. I feel like I got a lesson in what it feels like for my clients when I meet with them to go over their reports. I probably asked him to repeat how things goes a few dozen times (concussion) but he was super patient with me. We saw multiple doctors during the course of recovery and Bill was in contact with all of them. He mediated between the insurance and the doctors to make sure they knew how much medical coverage was left before health would kick in. The only time we spoke to anyone other than Bill was when we called into the office. I never had to wait for someone else to relay questions. I really appreciated the promptness. I make my living supporting small businesses and that is what I want from who I hire as well. That personal touch makes all the difference. I've heard many stories from people who hired an accident attorney who took their contract, made it impossible for them to hire someone else, and ghosted them. After initial contact, not for a single moment did I fear this same thing happening to us. Bill made his contact with us personal from the start so we knew we could put our trust in him. I am so happy we chose to hire Tonelli Law to take care of our family and beyond grateful for what he accomplished for us.

I was hit by a car while walking my dogs. Due to the severity of my injures, I knew I needed a good lawyer to fight for my case. At first, I thought I was going to have to settle for the initial offer. Me. Tonelli worked tirelessly to navigate through the insurance and he obtained a settlement more than I could ever have imagined. He is a fighter and he and will not stop until all resources are looked into. I highly recommend him and his team. I thought I was getting a good lawyer, but I got a great lawyer! Thank you so much from a grateful client!

Got everything I needed done and more. Had a case declared as criminal when it should have been civil - only 15 minutes in court and he had it knocked down with only a $100 court fine. Worked with our situation to accommodate us in ways he didn’t have to.

It is hard to truly capture my full appreciation and recommendation for Attorney Benjamin Wurtzel. Most of us don't think we will need a criminal defense attorney in our lifetimes. I found myself in a situation where life changed in an instant and as a new mother in the midst of a major storm, I was in desperate need of competent and reliable counsel. The complexity of my case was astounding and I knew immediately after the initial consultation with Ben that he would be unlike other attorneys. The research he had done in a short time frame showed me that he was intelligent and diligent, with careful attention to details. (I spoke with several other attorneys who either rushed me off the phone or seemed genuinely perplexed by my situation - bringing zero confidence in their ability to help). Throughout the subsequent months, Ben kept me informed every step of the way, often wearing a very patient "teacher" hat, explaining the court and legal systems, since this world was quite foreign to me. I never for a second questioned his allegiance and surprisingly - his empathy (a rarity among lawyers I'm sure). I felt genuine concern and care in every correspondence which, to put it bluntly, brought much needed peace during very sleepless nights. This peace extended out to my anxious friends and family who also came to trust Ben and his instincts, even through they didn't personally know him. This to me, was priceless. I now see that an outstanding attorney cares about their clients, is knowledgeable of the law with a track record of success, is highly intuitive and able to both read people and circumstances quickly and is a master negotiator... Ben is all of these things and more. My case resulted in mostly dropped charges and a no-contest plea, for which I am forever grateful to soon put this season behind me. It's a tough job he has and while I hope I never need his services again (smile) I cannot recommend him enough to others who do.

My husband was in need of filing a motion to have his probation modified and we could not have been blessed with a better team. Ben was extremely thorough, patient, and knowledgeable. Something that my husband and I appreciated most was his willingness to provide us with realistic expectations throughout the entire process. We had our hearing today and by the grace of God and Bens hard work and expertise, the motion for modification was granted. We are in absolute awe of the outcome as it was a huge request that is not often granted. My husband and I are more than proud to call Ben and Lori our family lawyers and would recommend them without a doubt. Thank you Ben and Lori!!

In all, two very difficult cases. Mister Fetter was not only honest, forthright, realistic but also heartfelt. These qualities rarely found in an attorney. He truly does care and he knows his S$&@t. How he made magic happen is beyond me but if you need someone who does truly work with you both financially and in the court room I can honestly say you CANNOT GET ANY BETTER MAN. Thank you Bryce and staff for your diligence, your kindness, your willingness to work with me and assist me at a time in my life when things just were not right. Thank you and God bless you all.

Mr. Fetter was consulted by myself to assist with a case against my son. The transparency of his service and expectations one would expect was spot on. The communication from beginning to completion was amazing. I never had to chase anything or ask what’s going on. At times when I got overwhelmed and called the office I was always reassured. This amazing Law firm managed to get a potential 15yr sentence down to all charges dropped!! If you haven’t consulted or hired Bruce Fetter, you have already lost!

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Winter Park, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
