Raina will always be my go to. Unfortunately I was involved in another car accident 6months after my first accident. I was 8months pregnant and in a Lyft as a passenger this time. Another terrible experience, but I came back to Raina law office and she did what she always do, made sure my family and I was in good hands, with all of my therapy and appointments. Raina is very informative, helpful, and my experience will forever be a 10/10. Thank you again!… Highly Recommend Law Office for your car accidents.

Attorney Felder represented my son as a young teen with a few traffic violations and potential license suspension. She negotiated a fair resolution to his case and was extremely professional in her dealings with us at all times. I highly recommend Attorney Felder if you are in need of capable and knowledgeable legal representation.

I would like to start this review by stating that I am an attorney, but I do not practice family law. I hired attorney Precious Felder to handle a Child custody issue. This matter was particularly tricky as it required detailed investigations, finesse, and expert knowledge of family law, noting the child was previously taken without permission and resided somewhere outside the state of Georgia. Attorney Felder's follow-up was second to none. She kept us informed at every stage of the process, requested information timely, and displayed the professionalism and skill necessary to facilitate what could have otherwise been an extremely volatile and contentious matter. I am pleased with the outcome. Attorney Felder is an example of the best our profession has to offer. I highly recommend Attorney Precious Felder.

I hired Attorney Precious Felder Gates in January 2022 to represent my young adult sons for names changes, in hopes that they would be able to graduate high school and college with a new family name. I made Ms. Gates aware of my time sensitive project and she practically assured me that this was a simple task that could be done by the end of February or early March. I paid for her services in full up front. Throughout this process, there were unexpected occurrences and lack of communication on her part. Needless to say, my sons did not have their family names in time for graduation in May. My eldest had a July court date which would finalize everything. Ms. Felder Gates not only missed our meeting 30 minutes before the hearing, but she was also late to court without calling her client or having her office call to notify us. After several attempts to reach her office, we chose to proceed with the hearing as I wasn't sure if she was even going to show up governing her previous behavior. After my son represented himself in court, he received his family name and we left the building. Ms. Gates finally called him, allegedly from the court building, with several different excuses. First, she said a previous case ran behind. Then she came with "there was traffic". Next, there was an alleged accident on the road, etc. When asked why she didn't pick up the phone to call and instruct her client that she was running late, her response was that she doesn't use her cell phone in her car. This is unprofessional and unacceptable. My payment included her appearance at hearings. I expressed that we were unhappy with her performance and that we paid for a portion of service that we did not get, which was her appearance during our scheduled court time. I wanted to be made whole at this point. When asked for a refund for the time she missed in court, she said that she "doesn't compensate". An apology was all she was willing to give. BUYER BEWARE!!!!!

I showed up in court in a wheelchair back in early February of 2020. I had been going back and forth with the roofing company that put a lien on my home after they failed to uphold the commitments made in our contract. I suffered multiple strokes in those two years, and I could barely catch my breath long enough to argue my case effectively that day in court. While exiting the courtroom Attorney Gibson handed me her card and told me to give her a call. From the moment she handed me that card Attorney Gibson completely took over and handled the situation for me. I never had to lift a finger because she took care of it all. Today my matter is resolved and the lien is removed from my home. Thank you GLF!

Ms. Gibson has helped my client (a startup company) with several immigration issues in regards to securing visas for our employees. Ms. Gibson was always helpful, quick to respond, and did not mind explaining the nuances of immigration law. I will definitely use Ms. Gibson's services again.

Goes well beyond the normal duties provided by most attorneys. Provides counsel based on helping improve your business by finding a way to get the job done. Has a positiive attitude towards accomplishing the objective. Does not list all the reasons why you cannot do something. In addition to providing wise and sage counsel, he helps coach my small business. His 13 years of experience, including combat experience, as an officer in the Marine Corps provides a unique understanding of how to incorporate and integrate his advice into practice within my company, as opposed to just telling me what to do. That is, my people really look forward to hearing how he can help them and my business. For example, in order for my business to survive, the government dictated that we had to become self regulated by joining the old NASD. We did not even know what that meant. Every other attorney, and the NASD told us it was impossible for us to join. The fact that we did not trade securities, by definition, prohibited us from joining the National Association of Securities Dealers, a non governmental self regulated organization. Not only did he help us to become a member of the NASD, he held our hand through the entire process. He did everything from coaching our traders on the floor to sit beside us and fielded all questions in our interviews in Washington DC and Atlanta GA. He drafted and implemented all procedures required to accomplish the result. He even used his network to contact the chairman of the commission. We did not trade any

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Atlanta, Georgia?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
