Yes, I know it’s a long review but I promise reading it is worth it. And I hate writing essays BUT he truly deserves it! Here I am going through a prolonged DUI court case 3 years after the incident occurred in 2021. This is due to my previous attorney consistently finding excuses to push it back and not caring about me as a client. I was so stressed by not having this case nowhere near being resolved while also dealing with that arrogant (but pessimistic) attorney I had before Mr. Cleaver (I want to state his name so bad but let me not be that petty lol). I say all that because we finally get to my motions hearing for my case earlier this year (2024) and it does not go the way he wants. Immediately after the hearing he then proceeds to tell me to prepare for trial while also recommending me to switch to any attorney from Willis Law Firm since they also have the power to appeal court decisions. In other words he is indirectly saying he doesn’t think he will win the trial or even cares to win it for me at all. So, while even more stressed about the whole situation during and after my hearing, I looked online under Willis Law Firm and something in my mind, heart, and gut told me to meet with Attorney Casey Cleaver and see how he feels about my case. Literally within the first 15 minutes of meeting him, he already showed me more respect than my previous attorney did the whole time I was under him. We look over my case and he also, in his gut, feels like he could easily win my case for me. As we come to that agreement, I decided to switch from my previous attorney to him. This I where I started to find out truly that Attorney Casey Cleaver was the real deal. We proceed with another motions hearing allowed by the judge since he asked for one as my new attorney. It did not go as perfectly as he expected but he knew no matter what evidence was suppressed or not suppressed that he could easily still win my case. We finally go to trial which lasted 3 days and every step was some of the most professional work of an attorney I have ever seen……I mean this was my first time dealing with a court case about me but just take my word for it lol. I was very anxious at the time and Mr Cleaver always found a way to keep my anxiety at a minimum with his cool, calm and collected demeanor. During the jury selection, he literally got some type of bio out of each possible jury member and actually made it kind of fun to select a jury. I swear it felt like a game that him and I were playing against the prosecutor for which he knew who the prosecutor was going to “strike out” and which jury members we had the best chance of getting. It was like as if it were a tutorial for an attorney game and he was my guide through it all as he thoroughly explained each step of the way. After the jury selection, we proceed for the next two days. During his opening statement, debate against the prosecutor and closing statement, it was easy to see that Casey Cleaver was hungry to win this case. He had both of the police witnesses and even the prosecutor stuttering and lost for words at times by the questions he asked them and how he called out ALL of their flaws dealing with their evidence against me. He found even the smallest to biggest flaws in both the police’s sobriety tests on me and even the mistakes in their reports on the situation. His closing argument was one that I believe everyone in that court room, even the prosecutor, could find it very hard to not accept and disagree with. We finally get to the verdict about an hour after the jury discusses all their opinions about my case. While I am sitting there nervous out of my mind next to Mr Cleaver, I could just see his confident anticipation for the verdict that he knows we are going to get. The representative of the jury slowly reads the verdict (it had my anxiety on 100% lol), he finally says “the jury finds that he is NOT GUILTY”. THE BEST EVER!!!!!

Trust. I’m so glad I trusted this firm (and Casey) with my case. The service, communication and professionalism was banner, day one until the very end. Yes, I got the result we planned for. But I’d like to compliment Casey’s reputation and demeanor. He quickly gained my trust, and it’s clear why when I saw him in court as he clearly has the respect of his peers. Recommend. Period.

If I could give 6 stars, I would. I had the pleasure of working with Mr. Cleaver, and I couldn’t be more satisfied with the outcome of my case. From the beginning, Mr. Cleaver was extremely diligent and committed to my defense. He thoroughly examined every detail and was able to get my charges significantly reduced, which was a huge relief. His expertise and dedication were evident throughout the entire process, and he always kept me informed, making sure I understood each step. If you're looking for a lawyer who will truly fight for you, I highly recommend Mr. Cleaver.

I showed up in court in a wheelchair back in early February of 2020. I had been going back and forth with the roofing company that put a lien on my home after they failed to uphold the commitments made in our contract. I suffered multiple strokes in those two years, and I could barely catch my breath long enough to argue my case effectively that day in court. While exiting the courtroom Attorney Gibson handed me her card and told me to give her a call. From the moment she handed me that card Attorney Gibson completely took over and handled the situation for me. I never had to lift a finger because she took care of it all. Today my matter is resolved and the lien is removed from my home. Thank you GLF!

Ms. Gibson has helped my client (a startup company) with several immigration issues in regards to securing visas for our employees. Ms. Gibson was always helpful, quick to respond, and did not mind explaining the nuances of immigration law. I will definitely use Ms. Gibson's services again.

Goes well beyond the normal duties provided by most attorneys. Provides counsel based on helping improve your business by finding a way to get the job done. Has a positiive attitude towards accomplishing the objective. Does not list all the reasons why you cannot do something. In addition to providing wise and sage counsel, he helps coach my small business. His 13 years of experience, including combat experience, as an officer in the Marine Corps provides a unique understanding of how to incorporate and integrate his advice into practice within my company, as opposed to just telling me what to do. That is, my people really look forward to hearing how he can help them and my business. For example, in order for my business to survive, the government dictated that we had to become self regulated by joining the old NASD. We did not even know what that meant. Every other attorney, and the NASD told us it was impossible for us to join. The fact that we did not trade securities, by definition, prohibited us from joining the National Association of Securities Dealers, a non governmental self regulated organization. Not only did he help us to become a member of the NASD, he held our hand through the entire process. He did everything from coaching our traders on the floor to sit beside us and fielded all questions in our interviews in Washington DC and Atlanta GA. He drafted and implemented all procedures required to accomplish the result. He even used his network to contact the chairman of the commission. We did not trade any

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Atlanta, Georgia?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
