In November of 2023 I contracted to a Time for Prints/Photos (TFP) photoshoot with a photographer. The agreement was for us to complete a shoot, me to receive all photos, and for him to be able to use and post approved photos of me for further advertising of his skills. The photographer decided that he would breach the agreement, not give me my photos but ask me to pay for them, not get approval for pics, and ultimately said he was going to sell them for profit. At this point Kyle was consulted and hired. Kyle didn't waste any time asking for all necessary information and conversations. He took a thorough look and read through everything, drafted his cease and desist letter and sent it to me for review and approval. Once approved, he promptly and professionally delivered it to the photographer and included his contact information. They had a call and the photographer removed all of my content, deleted them, pulled out of the sell, and has not contacted me since. So, as stated in the title, Kyle was pleasant, efficient, and effective and I'd recommend his services.

I consulted with Kyle on a dispute with my Home Owners Association. They were attempting to allow an exemptions during the Super Bowl for short term rentals, a clear violation of the covenants and leasing resolution. He explained my options which included potentially drafting a letter and filing an injunction against the Board of the community. In a separate matter, I hired Kyle to draft a cease and desist letter for a dispute with a photographer over the usage rights of the photos that were taken in an unpaid test shoot. The matter was settled after the letter was sent and a discussion over the phone.

Anyone who has ever started a business can tell you that while it’s an exciting time, it’s also a time filled with uncertainty and a lot of confusion. When I decided to incorporate my start-up, I called several business attorneys, and ended up going with Magee Law Group, because Kyle was very responsive and very knowledgeable. I could tell during my initial consultation with him that he truly cares about his clients and their success. I have worked with Magee Law Group for over a year now and view them as a strategic partner. They essentially operate as my outside general counsel, and I communicate with them on a weekly (sometimes daily) basis regarding everything from day-to-day operations, vendor contracts, negotiating deals, etc. If you have or are thinking of starting a business, I highly recommend Magee Law Group! A friend referred Kyle to me, and I am very impressed!! He has taken the stress out of the legal aspect of my business, so that I can focus solely on running my business. He has handled everything from drafting an operating agreement to negotiating and drafting vendor contracts for me. I have Kyle review everything that my business signs, so that I know my business and personal assets are protected. He is very responsive and has been instrumental in helping me to navigate the challenges of my growing business.

Kyle takes a genuine interest in his clients. While working with him to set up an operating agreement for our LLC, he was thoughtful and took his time, making sure that I understood the process and answering any questions I had. He never made me feel that he was rushed for time or only cared about getting my business. I highly recommend Kyle!

Kyle Magee has been instrumental in creating our legal, administrative and financial systems to keep up with the fast growth our company has experienced. He is knowledgable, approachable, and experienced and I depend on him for matters at hand as well as pre-emptive guidance that continuously improve our business functions. He is dependable and proactive and with reasonable rates; one of the finest attorneys I have worked with over my 25 year career in finance. He has been our corporate attorney for 7 years and his work includes contact management, negotiations, insurance and labor compliance, human resource support, and asset protection. I would recommend him with confidence, knowing he will be a great asset to your company whether you are a start-up or a well-established business.

I showed up in court in a wheelchair back in early February of 2020. I had been going back and forth with the roofing company that put a lien on my home after they failed to uphold the commitments made in our contract. I suffered multiple strokes in those two years, and I could barely catch my breath long enough to argue my case effectively that day in court. While exiting the courtroom Attorney Gibson handed me her card and told me to give her a call. From the moment she handed me that card Attorney Gibson completely took over and handled the situation for me. I never had to lift a finger because she took care of it all. Today my matter is resolved and the lien is removed from my home. Thank you GLF!

Ms. Gibson has helped my client (a startup company) with several immigration issues in regards to securing visas for our employees. Ms. Gibson was always helpful, quick to respond, and did not mind explaining the nuances of immigration law. I will definitely use Ms. Gibson's services again.

Goes well beyond the normal duties provided by most attorneys. Provides counsel based on helping improve your business by finding a way to get the job done. Has a positiive attitude towards accomplishing the objective. Does not list all the reasons why you cannot do something. In addition to providing wise and sage counsel, he helps coach my small business. His 13 years of experience, including combat experience, as an officer in the Marine Corps provides a unique understanding of how to incorporate and integrate his advice into practice within my company, as opposed to just telling me what to do. That is, my people really look forward to hearing how he can help them and my business. For example, in order for my business to survive, the government dictated that we had to become self regulated by joining the old NASD. We did not even know what that meant. Every other attorney, and the NASD told us it was impossible for us to join. The fact that we did not trade securities, by definition, prohibited us from joining the National Association of Securities Dealers, a non governmental self regulated organization. Not only did he help us to become a member of the NASD, he held our hand through the entire process. He did everything from coaching our traders on the floor to sit beside us and fielded all questions in our interviews in Washington DC and Atlanta GA. He drafted and implemented all procedures required to accomplish the result. He even used his network to contact the chairman of the commission. We did not trade any

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Atlanta, Georgia?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
