I am so thankful to have had Dave Currie as my lawyer. He represented me in an automobile accident case and did an incredible job! He not only got an unbelievable result for me, he kept me fully informed at all times - from our initial consultation to the conclusion of the case. He answered all of my questions promptly and professionally and always treated me with kindness and respect. He was always easily-accessible by phone or email, which I really appreciated. His remarkable range of medical, as well as, legal knowledge helped me to understand and face the stressful issues with ease. He is a highly-skilled lawyer, a great negotiator, and an absolute pleasure to work with! I highly recommend him. "Don't worry, call Currie!"

Dave Currie was the best person and lawyer I could have found for my case. My case was a sexual assault case, the incident occurred at a nationally known massage establishment by a licensed massage therapist. Needless to say the case could have been extremely uncomfortable for me, but Dave made every step of the process comfortable and as easy as possible. When anything uncomfortable came up Dave always had my back and made me feel like we were a team, he even took the time to get to know my family that would come along to some of the meeting with me. When it came time for the depositions and negotiations I was extremely nervous, but Dave was knowledgeable and honest about how the proceedings go and it helped a lot with my nerves. Dave’s knowledge, experience, and diligence rewarded me a substantial settlement. Dave consistently kept me in the loop about what was going on in my case, as well as answered any questions, calls, emails, or texts that I sent his way. Dave not only made me feel like I had an amazing lawyer on my side to make sure I wouldn’t get taken advantage of, he also made me feel like I had a friend on my side that wanted to make sure that I was going to be emotionally strong once everything was over.

Dave Currie is an outstanding lawyer. I was injured in and explosion that left me with permanent hearing damage. Due to my field of business, it was a career ending injury and very important to me. The first lawyer I contacted was horrible. The initial consult was great but it wasnt long before I was wondering what else I needed to be doing and where my case stood. After numerous attempts to reach him and few, if any, return calls, I researched specialized ear injury lawyers and found Dave Currie. After speaking to Dave on the phone for a brief description of his expertise, I fired my current lawyer and went to meet Dave and his team. Let me just say that immediately upon entering his office, I felt amazed at how professional and courteous everyone was. I sat down at a huge table and had 3 people completely focused on what I had to say. Kenya Cantrell, one of Dave's associates, began taking notes, and was ALWAYS available when Dave was not. She promptly returned phone calls and emails, and followed up with all my questions and even questions that I didn't know I had at the time. I was also very impressed at the level of communication that I had with Dave. There were quite a few times that he returned calls and emails on the weekends and days he was out of the office or off. Dave's knowledge of the specifics of my injury were very impressive. He knew some of the doctors that I have seen on a first name basis and was personally sympathetic to my condition. He was very honest with me at all times and if at any point he was unfamiliar with something, he said so, and promptly researched information and followed up with me about it. Dave went above and beyond to make sure that I knew what was going on and what all I needed to do while we were awaiting a hearing. During the time before my hearing, I had some troubling family problems and Dave was genuinely concerned for me and what was going on. He postponed a few things while I dealt with them and did not hound me into continuing my case until I was ready. He is very professional yet so comfortable talking to you, its like speaking to an old friend. As time started boiling down, we scheduled a deposition. Dave walked me through what would happen and gave me the direction that I needed to enter the deposition with confidence. After about 5 hours of depositions, things went exactly as Dave had explained. A few days passed and the negotiations began. Dave informed me in great detail what similar cases had settled for and suggested that I not set my sights too high. After many counter offers and Dave's expert negotiating, we settled for about 10 percent higher than the highest settlement for similar and some exceeding the damage that I suffered. I am so pleased that I chose Dave Currie. This was the only time I ever needed a lawyer and I was so relieved that everything went so smoothly. I couldn't have asked for anything more in a representative or a friend.

I can't summarize how thankful I am to have Dave in my corner. I guess that explains why I found him through a referral. You can ensure YOUR INTERESTS are protected by calling on Dave Currie. Not only was he very responsive, but so was his staff. Dave sets the tone at the top and that was obvious in my interaction with his staff. I recommend him without hesitation.

I showed up in court in a wheelchair back in early February of 2020. I had been going back and forth with the roofing company that put a lien on my home after they failed to uphold the commitments made in our contract. I suffered multiple strokes in those two years, and I could barely catch my breath long enough to argue my case effectively that day in court. While exiting the courtroom Attorney Gibson handed me her card and told me to give her a call. From the moment she handed me that card Attorney Gibson completely took over and handled the situation for me. I never had to lift a finger because she took care of it all. Today my matter is resolved and the lien is removed from my home. Thank you GLF!

Ms. Gibson has helped my client (a startup company) with several immigration issues in regards to securing visas for our employees. Ms. Gibson was always helpful, quick to respond, and did not mind explaining the nuances of immigration law. I will definitely use Ms. Gibson's services again.

Goes well beyond the normal duties provided by most attorneys. Provides counsel based on helping improve your business by finding a way to get the job done. Has a positiive attitude towards accomplishing the objective. Does not list all the reasons why you cannot do something. In addition to providing wise and sage counsel, he helps coach my small business. His 13 years of experience, including combat experience, as an officer in the Marine Corps provides a unique understanding of how to incorporate and integrate his advice into practice within my company, as opposed to just telling me what to do. That is, my people really look forward to hearing how he can help them and my business. For example, in order for my business to survive, the government dictated that we had to become self regulated by joining the old NASD. We did not even know what that meant. Every other attorney, and the NASD told us it was impossible for us to join. The fact that we did not trade securities, by definition, prohibited us from joining the National Association of Securities Dealers, a non governmental self regulated organization. Not only did he help us to become a member of the NASD, he held our hand through the entire process. He did everything from coaching our traders on the floor to sit beside us and fielded all questions in our interviews in Washington DC and Atlanta GA. He drafted and implemented all procedures required to accomplish the result. He even used his network to contact the chairman of the commission. We did not trade any

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Atlanta, Georgia?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
