Blade was great, he walked us through each step and took so much of the pressure off! I would for sure use him again and recommend him to anyone in need of an injury lawyer. He's patient, knows his stuff and helped us get through our legal battle with ease!

Blade was a "SAVIOR". After being turned down by two other attorneys, I found Linton Blade Thompson. I was in an auto accident that was no fault of my own where I was rear-ended, and I only had Liability insurance. No other attorney would take the case because the return was so small. But I had hospital, EMS and doctor bills that I had to pay. I explained my situation to Bland and he did not hesitate and took my case. Not only did he settle all by debts, but he also got me compensated for all damages including loss of property, loss wages and property damage.

Blade represented me after a truck ran me off the road in my own neighborhood and totaled my new car I hadn't even been driving for a year in which I sustained back injuries. He is very communicative and responsive. He took excellent care of me and my case and made a complicated process feel structured, efficient, and I always knew I was in great hands. I highly recommend Blade Injury Law and plan to refer him to everyone I know.

Blade helped direct me after an automobile accident. He’s such a great attorney and is upfront about everything in your case. He makes decisions with only your best interest in mind. His character is refreshing because he genuinely cares. Working with Blade and his team was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I recommend him to everyone I know including my friends and family. I will always be grateful for my experience with Blade Thompson and his team.

Blade did a g great job with my case! I was referred to Blade by the two witnesses who stopped after my accident! The odds that two people would stop to be witnesses for an accident (so many people just keep driving) was rare enough and then on top of that they both referred me to the same lawyer while we were waiting on the police to arrive made hiring Blade a no brainer for me. I felt like the universe was telling me something and I am glad that I listened to the universe! Blade answered all my questions in depth, explained the whole process and was always available if and when I needed him. If he did miss my call or message he would respond promptly. I really appreciated that and the personalization. Blade really cares about his clients and their well being. The app and his whole process is super easy to follow and helps keep everything organized so you know exactly what is going on. Blade fought hard for me and my case. I got all my medical bills paid for and received the maximum amount possible! I couldn't have asked for a better results. Picking a personal injury lawyer can be overwhelming and scary because the options are endless and not all lawyers are the same. I have no regrets hiring Blade to represent me and if myself or any friends of family are in need of a personal injury lawyer I would definitely refer them to Blade. No question. Thank you again Blade for all your hard work for and efforts! I very much appreciate you and your whole team!

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Atlanta (Chamblee), Georgia?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
