When I was charged with a DUI I knew that if it stuck that it would prevent my ability to succeed in my career and possibly limit my entry into Canada. When I consulted with Chris he helped educate me on what to expect and then whenever I got mail that didn’t make sense his team and he personally helped me know it was standard stuff and not to worry. Really grateful for having been referred to Chris.

I had a DUI case that I thought my life was going to be over with when it was done. Chris helped me get the best case scenario for my case and explained everything clearly. Unlike other lawyers that use scare tactics to get your business, Chris gives you the truth and he is helpful with every step in your case.

Mr. Bishop originally was my court appointed attorney, and I carried serious charges. Mr. Bishop was extremely knowledgeable, professional, and well respected in the courtroom. He presented my case confidentiality, thus producing an acceptable outcome. Fast forward five years with occasional communication, I hired Mr. Bishop without hesitation to renegotiate the terms of my lengthy probation. I’m grateful for the time, effort, and expertise he demonstrated at my hearing, thus resulting in an early termination of my relationship with the state supervision. I highly recommend Mr. Bishop to anyone that finds themselves in a position that potentially could alter their future negatively if not handled properly. Thank you Mr. Bishop for all you’ve done for me and my family.

Mr. Chris Bishop was a professional, non-judgmental, and respectful attorney. He took my case and got in contact with me in just a few days. Communication was easy to have with him, and he discussed all options there was for me in the crime I committed in shoplifting. Mr. Bishop told me he was going to try his hardest to keep me out of jail, and I found out real fast that his word was solid. He definitely came thru for me. I can not thank him enough for all his hard work. I appreciated he kept me a priority, and understood my situations I had on a daily basis. Mr. Bishop is an remarkable attorney that I highly recommend. If someone who is serious to take action on their crime, Mr. Chris Bishop is the attorney to go with!

Chris Bishop got me through a very difficult time. He was the Public Defender signed to me. I also violated probation and he was right there. He got me a year release from my probation. He really fought the State Attorneys office. He got me freed and I’m done! I was allowed to leave Georgia and stay with my daughter in Florida.

When I first contacted Laura to have a consultation prior to the upcoming hearing I was extremely uneasy and filled with emotions. Her knowledge and compassion for my situation was extremely settling. She brought me calm through the chaos that I felt was my life. Her eagerness and willingness to not only represent me but hear me out was just what I needed. She was a confidant for me when I needed it the most. After speaking with her I knew she was the attorney for me in my time of need. Through the entire length of my case, she answered every question I had. Her hard work and determination proved true throughout my case. Laura is tactful, empathetic, brilliant, patient, and charismatic. If you are in search of an attorney, I would highly recommend her.

This is the best law firm I've ever worked with Mr. Price is a beast and a fighter he will fight tooth and nail for you. His team is the same way they understand what you're going going through and they walk you through the process ready to answer any questions you have, and I asked a lot of questions. Their knowledge of the law is impressive, and they were able to explain complex legal terms and processes in a way that was easy to understand. Their attention to detail gave me the confidence I needed during such a stressful time. If you're in need of an attorney who is both compassionate and fiercely dedicated, I highly recommend Price Law Group. They will go above and beyond to ensure your case is handled with the utmost care and professionalism.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Canton, Georgia?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
