I talked to Nate in 2/2020 because I had contempt filed against me within weeks of having a baby and I had no income at the time. We set up a payment plan and I was able to pay him, as per our contract. I kept constant communication. I got notice from the other party in 1/2021 that Nate was not responding. Nate lacked in responses anyway, so I reached out to others I knew, and Nate, and finally got a response but decided to fire Nate, as it had almost been a full year and I STILL hadn't received a statement. I retained another attorney in 1/2021 and informed Nate I wanted a full itemized bill AND a refund from my retainer. It is now 3/19/2021 and I've sent multiple emails and left multiple messages with Ann, his receptionist. She doesn't even have access to where the money goes to send me a receipt. I feel he prayed on my situation and took advantage of the fact that I desperately wanted an attorney and would do any kind of payment plan. I waited two months for a refund. Anything. DON'T USE HIM. I believe he is immoral and unethical.

I hire Mr.Cochran for a case. He promised to call the following week to have me sign the filing. He did not call. I waited 3 weeks with no contact. I emailed several times and tried to reach him via phone. He did not respond until I told him I wanted my retainer back. He agreed to refund the unused portion that week. It’s been 6 weeks and I have not heard from him or received the refund as promised. I’ve tried to reach him via email and phone with no luck. His receptionist actually giggles when I call now asking to speak with him.

Showed up to court an hour late. Wore sneakers on court date. Did not prepare properly for my case. Refused to ask relevant questions of defense as requested. Stated he would return my personal property (as he did not prepare pleadings etc. from copies provided) and has failed to do (return) so. After losing the case, quickly sent a quote soliciting for another 3.5k for an appeals process. I cannot recommend this individual.

I had two cases with Mr Cochran. Both of which he assured me were strong cases the first of which he sent a Demand Letter two weeks later than he said and which I never saw before he sent it to approve before it was sent. I since was able to resolve on my own recently after he could not provide me a case# with or proof of filing. It was determined when speaking with the courts he never filed it. The second he kept promising to start which involved a few hundred thousand dollars for a potential settlement of which we had verbally agreed he would get 40% of and nothing was ever done. I have called and sent numerous text and emails first asking then demanding my files that have never been returned. Not sure what he was hiding but I hope to eventually find out. I now stand to lose everything I have worked for! Thank You Mr Cochran.

I'm a client of Mr. Cochran. He filed a real estate action for us that was successful and took care of all correspondences. He is courteous, prompt, thorough, clear with his answers, and he presented a solution that was a perfect one for us. He gave us a free consultation and his fee was affordable. His assistant, Judi, is very nice and helpful, too. He gets our highest recommendation.

This is the best law firm I've ever worked with Mr. Price is a beast and a fighter he will fight tooth and nail for you. His team is the same way they understand what you're going going through and they walk you through the process ready to answer any questions you have, and I asked a lot of questions. Their knowledge of the law is impressive, and they were able to explain complex legal terms and processes in a way that was easy to understand. Their attention to detail gave me the confidence I needed during such a stressful time. If you're in need of an attorney who is both compassionate and fiercely dedicated, I highly recommend Price Law Group. They will go above and beyond to ensure your case is handled with the utmost care and professionalism.

Three cheers to Attorney Archie Speights and his Paralegal Debbie for outstanding support and professionalism! Archie has a proven track record of success that has earned him the reputation of the "Go To Attorney In Town" so hiring him was an absolute no brainer! It's simple, he's gets results! Dealing with the law is an unfortunate reality faced by even the best of us. Anxiety, court appearances, and legal fees are just a few of the aspects that can tear away at an individual, leaving them feeling helpless and ostracized. Luckily, with a skilled attorney, such as Archie Speights, all of this can be mitigated. From the moment I called Archie he immediately started making phone calls gathering information on the case and was able to advise me on the spot. To say I was impressed is an understatement. His diligence and expertise was apparent from beginning. I was confident I chose the RIGHT lawyer! Do not ignore the importance of qualified counsel; it can undoubtedly be the difference between a complete upheaval of one's life and just a minor hiccup.

Archie Speights handled my grandson’s case. He is highly intelligent, very professional and amusing. He is also kind and thoughtful. Several times during the hearing, he came and asked me if I was alright. Both my grandson and I are very pleased with the outcome. He is wonderful. Thank you so much. You are a blessing.

Mr. Speights has a reputation for being BEST in his field and is highly respected among his peers in the Law Community. Hiring him was the obvious choice. Mr. Speights represented my father and without a doubt, handled his case spectacularly in a seemingly impossible situation. He obtained plea bargains that resulted in the judge charging my father with the lowest conditions that Georgia would allow. Only 3 months house arrest with no Jail time! This is unusual for 2 DUI convictions. I cannot praise or thank him enough for the outcome of my Dads case. I highly recommend him without reservation.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Canton, Georgia?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
