This law firm supposed to had visited with my son and grand daughter, instead they visited with the mother and the courts gave my grand daughter back to the mother. My son never was visited and paid 1750 and he cannot get his money back. This mother sent fake emails to this law firm saying they were from me. Time will tell. All I can do is wish my grand daughter the best and pray God watches over her forever. I know I will never see her again, but I am at peace. This was done to my grand daughter by her mother and when my son took my grand daughter to see you she was sick that morning with an upset stomach. You could have at least seen him. He is a good guy and works very hard. I don't understand why good people get hurt so bad by bad people. Lawyers don't want justice. This baby is 5 years old. Of course the mother is going to be on good behavior around you. I pray nothing happens to my grand daughter. Anyone who sends fake messages and fake emails, there has to be something wrong with them. Why should a 4 year old have vaginitis and 12 cavities. That is neglect. I am not saying you are a bad lawyer, but you should have visited my son too since you were paid 1750 to do so. Why do my grand child have to suffer. Also my son's attorney assistant who sat with my grand daughter in the court library today said my granddaughter told her "I had a dream that my mother tried to kill me with a knife ", this is the same dream my son told you about when he visited you last week for 10 minutes, but you were in a rush to go to court. My granddaughter told us that you asked her about her head and she told you that her mother pulled her hair out and yet you feel that you have made the right decision in this custody case. GOD PLEASE TAKE CARE OF MY GRANDDAUGHTER PLACE YOUR BLOOD OVER HER. Amen. I love you grandma.

Only thing I ever heard from her is more money, more money. Never, ever got an email or phone call from her about my case, I always had to call. I should have asked around before giving her money because local business leaders said stay away!!!!

Ms. Duke, there is not enough stars that you can rate Ms. Duke on her personal and professional attributes. Ms. Duke took on our case and I just can’t describe the knowledge, passion, and fight inside of her. She is a very honest up front attorney from the beginning. She delivers on her promises and commitment to your case and welfare of your family. We were guided to Ms. Duke to end the torment me and my family had been going through for 2 yrs. competent, knowledgeable, brilliant, strong, professional ethics inside and out of the court system. I would give her and her firm 100 stars if I could. She will be the attorney of choice again should a law situation ever occurs again. THANK YOU Ms. Duke just doesn’t feel like enough to say!! THANK YOU TO INFINITY!!!!!

Got in trouble for a small thing years ago so as a freshmen in college and I immediately went to this law firm to seek advice and help. I discussed the situation with an older gentlemen at this law firm and I ended up hiring them to represent me as his recommendation. At the end I ended up paying more in lawyer fees and fine fees than to the individuals I knew who were in a similar situation with no or different lawyer.

In my business I deal with attorneys on a weekly basis, for better or worse. I can saywithoutthe shadow of a doubt there are only a few equal to Chris Porterfield. He has saved my company over 75,000.00$ to date (6 year period). He has advised on multiple levels , without question one of the best.

Best results I could've hoped for. I had 2 charges and it didn't look good. Both are off my record and all I got was 3 months of probation.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Carrollton, Georgia?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
