Lani Skipper callously took away my right to be a mother. She is a disgrace to the legal profession. Due to alienation from my ex-husband, I moved out of state because at the time he had villainized me to the children. I was going back for monthly visits and things were going better. The judge appointed Lani Skipper as the GAL when I had no choice to modify visitation because my ex-husband didn’t put them on a plane to Saint Louis after I bought tickets (I had his written agreement he would put them on the plane). I was not asking to win, for custody, just a set visitation schedule out of state for ½ of all school breaks. I asked her for a set schedule multiple times, for next steps in regards to move forward and she wouldn’t provide anything. She gave me two weeks’ notice that I could fly down in January, the flights were then unaffordable. She insinuated that I was mentally ill (my therapist discounted that) and even said my therapist wasn’t doing his job. She caused me mental anguish and I was diagnosed with situational anxiety because I never knew when I would see my children again. I have always held down a job in corporate America and have no history of drug use while my ex is an indicted felon. This unfairness caused me to go into severe depression. Her final recommendation was no set schedule, if the kids want to see me it is up to them. They have asked to see me and my ex just talks them out of it. Also, she contracts as a juvenile judge and wouldn’t talk to my lawyer for week’s because that is her priority. If you are in need of a GAL, some alienation is going on, in my opinion she will exploit the targeted parent and side with the alienator. In addition, I begged her for therapy for a year for the kids and she tried to put a conditional offer in the settlement stating that a therapist had to sign off on the fact that the kids were ready to see me. That was idiotic because my ex would bias the therapist as he has in the past. She is a joke. The final result was I get to fly to Atlanta to see my kids quarterly for a weekend. My husband and I are both working part time jobs in additional to our full time ones to pay for the year of her exploiting my family.

Lani is absolutely amazing and listened in on both sides of my husbands custody case and she always has the child well being in best interest. Ms. Sassers poor review was only done out of spite because court did not go her way and she has to put the blame on someone other than herself. Lani used her best judgment for my stepson from her 20 + years as being a top GAL in multiple counties. If anyone is going through a custody battle I would highly recommend Lani if needing a GAL!

Lani serves her clients with a professionalism unmatched by most lawyers while being sensitive to the human side of the lives of imperfect people on all sides of a case. She knows how to fight and win but always tries to avoid increasing the animosity between parents, preferring instead to find a solution that protects the best interests of the children caught between their parents. Lani’s personal integrity, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities have earned her the trust of judges and experienced family law attorneys across several counties. She and I have disagreed in past, serious, high conflict cases; however, she always demonstrated honor and candor despite our differences.

I rarely write reviews of other attorneys, but I happened to see the one-star review from Ms. Sasser and felt compelled to respond. I have known Lani for at least 15 years and have practiced with her, against her, before her when she sat as a Juvenile Court judge, and along side her in her capacity as a Guardian ad Litem. I have found her to be exceptionally professional and of the highest ethical standards, in every respect and capacity that I have dealt with her in, even when we had completely adversarial viewpoints. She does the work, presents the evidence, and is an honor to our profession. It appears (because I don't know the case personally) that Ms. Sasser had Lani on her case as the Guardian ad Litem, an appointment made by the Court and that is paid for by the parties, but one that does not represent EITHER party, and ONLY makes recommendations to the Court based upon her investigation as to what she feels is in the best interests of the child (even if the child disagrees). It is a difficult role and one that I have seen other parents confuse in the past, as has apparently happened here. I am certain though that even the poor review above will not influence the Guardian ad Litem, and that she will remain, as always, dedicated to presenting to the Court what she feels is in the child's best interests.

I have done several purchases with Ms. Bagby over the last 4 or 5 years. She is always very kind, professional, and an absolute pleasure to work with. Attention to detail and thoroughness is where she really excells. Highly recommend

Ms. Skipper handled my child support case with professionalism, respect and honesty. She was realistic about my situation and upfront with her opinion of the outcome. In the end, I was very pleased with her responsiveness and the dedication she put forth to my case.
