Mr Forsyth was very helpful in representing me on a traffic infraction. He made the process very seamless and painless. He follows through on his assurances and is very knowledgeable. I would recommend him to others without hesitation.

I called Don Forsyth after my wife received a speeding ticket in GA. He was incredibly pleasant and friendly on the phone. He didn’t rush me at all and gave me several options. He actually said I could do this on my own! Who offers that?? Being 4 hours away and also his VERY fair fee we decided to absolutely hire Don as our lawyer. He was able to reduce the ticket from points and Super Speeder charges down to just monetary charges. OUTSTANDING! He was also great to speak to, like an old friend. 10 stars out of five!

Received two citations on 8/27/21 from McIntosh county police (out of state speed trap) upon returning from dropping our daughter off at college. Immediately looked up local attorneys and Donald Forsyth was at the top of the list for good reason. He promptly returned my call, provided concise advice, and explained my options clearly - including the “self service” options (which could get the same results). Being from out of town I hired him to represent me immediately as returning just for this wasn’t cost-effective. He was able to disposition the case as articulated and he was very effective. 5 stars! Would hire again.

Received a speeding ticket for going 15 - 18 mph over the speed limit. Not only was I an out of state resident (NC) I was 5 hours away to stand trial. This would have been a "super speeder" ticket in GA -a $200 additional fine in addition to the regular speeding fine + court costs. This type of ticket could led to suspending my license in NC. I contacted MR. Duncan and hired him to represent me. 3 weeks before my trial date Mr. Duncan got all charges dismissed. He answered all questions I had by email and did an outstanding job for me. In my case, if you want a no nonsense lawyer who gets the job done - Mr. Duncan is your man.

It won’t let me give half stars as I would give 4 1/2 stars. Loses half a star for some communication issues. I had a problem reaching the office by phone a few times. When I first called around for lawyers, I called 3 different offices and Sherry from Earle J Duncan’s office called me back the same day so I thought that was good. Communication by email was a lot better than by phone. Mr. Duncan was able to reduce the ticket from a superspeeder to a non-reportable violation. I paid lawyer fees, court fees and the original fine and no superspeeder fine. A receipt was sent to me after everything was taken care of. Everything was neatly resolved while I was still in Florida. Thanks Earle J Duncan, Sherry and team for representing me.

Mr. Duncan handled my child custody case. My son was taken out of my custody unlawfully due to his father's false allegations of neglect and abuse. Duncan was able to aid me in getting my son back at a temporary hearing but the legal journey had just began for me. Once my son dad lost custody he filed several applications for a TPO and a warrant out for my husband and I arrest in an effort tarnish our good name and possibly get my son back. We were facing criminal charges such as theft , fraud and criminal damage to private property as well as a temporary protective order. All of the charges were dropped due to Duncan's legal guidance . Unfortunately that was not the end to this legal nightmare. We endure two additional hearing in order for me to obtain sole and legal custody of my son but we came out victorious. Aside from beating every case Mr. Duncan was also able to get my son's dad convicted of legal harassment and he was ordered to pay some of my legal fees. As you all should know legal fees can get expensive but Mr. Duncan worked with me on all my cases and agreed to accept payments on a monthly basis. I don't know of many lawyers that will initiate or continue to work on a case without payment. This showed that he is compassionate and not just a money hungry lawyer. He actually cares about his clients. I would recommend him to any body!!!!!

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Darien, Georgia?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
