Backed away from defending me after charging over $60k in fees. Incompetent. Admonished by the Judge in open federal court. Manipulation of clients is her strategy. Pressured and manipulated me to plead guilty to a charge of which I was innocent.

Good luck to all the positive reviews. She was hired by my family to do a post conviction appeal. The motion was a boilerplate with history of law rather than any issues being raised. A complete waste of my one shot to freedom. She basically took the money and copied the motion from text books. Terrible lawyer, would definitely NOT recommend.

If you are looking for an attorney as I was, you do NOT need to look any further. After an exhausting search I found Attorney Marcia Shein and thank God I did. Once I met her and hired her a weight was lifted off of me and good things started happening fast. Not only is she brilliant, creative and charismatic. She cares about her clients in a deep way that makes you feel like it's your sister or family member representing you. I mean she worked non-stop on my case and kept me updated every step of the way without ever having to ask. My life was on the line and I HAD to have the BEST and thank God Marcia was put in my path. She counseled me, gave me sound advice and saved my life. Marcia, from the bottom of my heart THANK YOU!!

A friend referred us to Brooks for our estate planning needs. He is knowledgeable, thoughtful, and thorough. He provided options to accomplish our goals and answered all of our questions clearly and concisely. Brooks has a very pleasant manner and made the entire process quite accessible. We highly recommend him as a true partner in this experience.

My family and I have used Tim's services for many years. MVA are such a traumatic experience, but Tim is truly the calm within the storm. The work that he does shows that he really cares. He puts you in contact with the best medical care and ensures that you are made whole again. He is kind, compassionate, professional and thorough. He always works tirelessly to ensure the best possible outcome on my behalf and I can't thank him enough. I am so glad my mother found him all those years ago.

I was referred by a friend to use Tim when my son was in a MVA . That was several years ago. I have used him several Tim in the past. My most recent MVA he handled my bodily injury claim. We had a few difficult issues with medical liens, bill reductions etc. but he worked them out. I would recommend him to family and friends. He is a great lawyer and very patient. All my experience has been great.

Initially in 2015 Mr. Storm became my father-in-law’s attorney after a bad accident on 285 and this began the relationship between my family and the Storm Law Firm. My husband was next on the list and was hit from behind twice, I was next with some accidents and then my sister with and almost life threatening accident. With every single Mr. Storm has been amazing even working on our different family members cases at the same time. His knowledge of the GA Law is impeccable and his stern professionalism is superb. Mr. Storm is a straight to the point attorney he knows how the companies work and how to handle them. My family has entrusted all of our accidents to him over a 6 year time frame and counting! Mr. Storm is better than any big wig attorney you hear on the radio or see on the TV. He truly takes pride in his work and what he can do for you as a client and not what you can put in his pocket. Let The Storm Law firm handle your case today!

My case was very complex, beyond scary for me and in a different state (not in GA). I came across Foss and his firm when doing a search for sexsomnia. From the minute that we started speaking he made me feel understood, heard and started putting me at ease. His partners were amazing as well. Their methodical approach was world class and I found Foss's practical intelligence to only be surpassed by his emotional intelligence. His understanding of the people involved in the case, that he never even met, was uncanny. Foss and his partners were able to secure a complete exoneration in short order and get me my life back.

Foss was very thorough in everything he did from investigation to validating facts to learning the personalities of the court and DA. He obviously had learned much over his years in practice and had a plan, but was not so rigid that he did not adjust with the situation. Always thinking ahead, he was prepared for different possibilities in each instance. A very intelligent gentleman who used good manners and remained calm at every turn. He was interested in hearing our input about the case and answering any questions we had. He communicated, even over communicated, to make sure we understood. Although the case was long, he was just as engaged at the end as at the beginning. We felt like we mattered to him as people and not just another win he could chalk up. We hope to never need his services again, but wouldn't hesitate a moment to engage him if the need arose.

After some searching, I found Foss Hodges and set up a time and an interview. Foss wanted to meet the entire family and the friends anyone who could show up, Foss began to introduce himself and more importantly wanted to know about me and my family. Foss cared it was the first time I had spoken to someone who wanted to actually hear from my family and was willing to speak with them about the case to help ease any confusion we may have. Also, a huge plus was he wanted to work with experts, and he had some of his own including wanting to give the one I had in mind a call and to at least learn with them. Foss gave us a checklist to do with everything he needed and as well as anything we thought would help him in any way. Then we went to work, we were a team working towards one goal and that was to prove my innocence and to put my family back together. Foss Hodges first act of business is very unique, it's to stop and indictment if it hasn’t been indicted already. He states very clearly, I can't promise you anything but the fact I will give you the best effort and I am going to put in the work. Any lawyer that tells you they can promise you a dropped case or an innocent verdict is something to pay attention to because that is not a thing. Foss then asks me to take a polygraph and then came to my house personally to do a walk through and see my house and exactly how the incident transpired. Foss took the extra steps to fully understand what happened and educated himself about the step by step instead of just taking my statement and that’s it. Foss wants to be there and see it with his own eyes, then after that he wants to try to meet the District Attorney to stop the Indictment if possible. We waited a year and a half it felt like before the DA responded to him then she would talk about meeting and then leave the office and someone else would get the case, or it would be “lost” for a few months then a new DA would take it and not respond to him all over again. Foss was persistent and never stopped with the correspondence to try to get a meeting to show the binder he built with all of his hard work and the expert testimonies with the polygraph test and all the Character reference letters with photos of the family and all. Foss kept my family updated and was very frequent with phone calls and if you had a rough time, you could just call him to talk, he was there for me and my wife in a time where we didn’t know what to do. Foss fought for my life for 3 years he won a bond modification to get me home to my family then 8 months later he went on to meet with the DA over my case and she dropped all charges over a six-minute phone call with my wife. Foss Hodges gave me my life back I have never seen anyone care or work so hard for anyone in my life, he was exceeding and doing things every lawyer I worked with before was just not there. I would trust Foss hodges with my life again and I am telling you if you are uncertain about the situation you are in and if you are reading this, I know your scared like I was. Please just give him a call and at the very least listen to what he has to say let him hear your story and then let him work for you like he did for me. He can't promise you the same outcome as me but that’s what he told me too and here I am writing this review after being free from the nightmare with a healthy family working on my master's because of this man. I owe him my life.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Decatur, Georgia?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
