He doesn’t do what he promises to do. He will tell the family of the incarcerated person one thing and tell the incarcerated person another. But he will darn sure take your money. He will come with offers that have already been put on the table and expect that to suffice. Do not hire this law firm if you want your loved one to be taken care of. Not for any criminal cases. He is incompetent, doesn’t care about the client, honestly he doesn’t work hard for the client. He rides the public defender’s coat tails. Don’t waste your time or money on ANYONE in this firm.

Very surprised and disappointed at his treatment of clients. I am surprised that he has a 5 stars rating. I hired Mr Hedge for representation. Paid him as he accepted half of the cost. Did not hear from him frequently afterwards. He held up my time as a legal representation. Without a month or even weeks of noticed he dropped my case. Meaning he dropped my case 30 minutes before the arraignment day in court. He was very deceiving. Like a wolf in sheep clothing. I had to talk to the judge to grant me an opportunity to get a public offender or defend myself. Thank you God for showing favor. The judge allowed me 30 more days until another arraignment. Zaine Hedge was very cold hearted careless. He kept my discovery and did not share important information to defend my case. Very scary situation knowing that I gave this attorney my all of money. He failed to stick to helping me. He held back information not making me aware. He should not be a judge for Douglas County Georgia, because he doesn't have good decision making capabilities. This could harm many innocent people lives and convict the possible innocent. He would possibly biolate your citizen rights. He would not help you to prove that you are not guilty.

I've never had this guy. I took the time out to get out of jail just to do a review on what I seen that my attorney couldn't do for me. He is awesome. Stays in contact with his clients. Comes on weekends, nights , morning it doesn't matter. I highly recommend this guy if your in any situation in Douglas county. 💯

I hired Vic Harrison to represent me in a civil litigation manner. He was very professional, always on time, and passionate about my case. I just always felt at ease with him as my attorney. I hope I never need an attorney again, but if I do I won't hesitate to hire Mr. Harrison again. He was outstanding in all respects.

The whole process of setting up a meeting, the actual conference and followup was easy & smooth. Mr. Kaufmann is very helpful and knowledgeable of the document I was having created. He answered all my questions and concerns. He even answered a question that I had asked that was not pertaining to the document we were drawing up. I recommend Mr. Kaufmann to many of my friends and family.

Robert Kauffman has been our Bank's primary real estate attorney since our inception. He advises us on how to navigate the often complex world of Commercial Real Estate financing and protects us from the losses that can occur when documentation etc…is not handled appropriately. He always answers or returns his calls promptly and I deal with him directly rather than a paralegal like at many other firms. As a constant resource for legal advice, Mr. Kauffman is often requested to advise us on issues that might stray from his areas of expertise, but he is consistently able to assist either directly or by recommending someone.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Douglasville, Georgia?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
