Please make a better decision than using these lawyers. Communication is absolutely the worst. They say they "work hard for you" , thats a joke. All they want is a pay day

Bridgett provided excellent legal assistance for my traffic ticket case. Her communication was outstanding, responding promptly via email, even during weekends and after hours when necessary. She successfully got my ticket dismissed without any points on my record or insurance increases, which was absolutely worth the investment. Her effectiveness in handling out-of-state cases was impressive, as I was traveling through GA from Colorado at the time of the incident. I highly recommend Bridgett for her professionalism and results-oriented approach. I would definitely use her services again if needed.

Pros
1
Effective and successful case outcomes
“Bridgett was able to get me exactly the deal I needed to take care of the ticket and keep it from showing up on my driving history.”
2
Excellent communication and responsiveness
“Bridgett was in contact with the court in the county I got my ticket in, and instead of losing my license and doing community service, Bridgett had my fines significantly reduced and I didn't even step foot in court.”
3
Knowledgeable and professional handling of legal matters
“She is very professional, friendly and explained every detail on each page and made sure there was full understanding before moving through the documents.”
4
Compassionate and understanding approach
“Where the police saw me as 'intoxicated', she saw me for the anxiety ridden person I am & fought to see I was not charged unjustly.”
5
Efficient and timely service
“Camelia was highly recommended by a member of the judiciary late at the end of the day and work week and we were feeling lost and quite stressed. Camelia was a Godsend. She saw us immediately, calmed us, and counselled us on the immediate and long term course of action.”
Cons
1
Poor communication and lack of responsiveness
“Communication is absolutely the worst. They say they 'work hard for you', that's a joke. All they want is a pay day.”
2
Inconsistent quality of service
“I was disappointed with my recent experience with Off the Record. My attorney (Bray Law) frequently fell behind schedule and communication was inconsistent and slow.”
3
Potential bias or unfair treatment
“I notice the black and brown people have similar stories of unsatisfactory service in these reviews, yet the white people have 5 stars with great reviews. I hope that's just a coincidence.”
4
Failure to follow through on commitments
“Never responded to my messages. Waited at the courthouse for her for 2 hours, Never answered my phone calls.”
5
Lack of transparency and unclear expectations
“Updates to the case were rather vague, often clueless on how everything went.”

I hired this attorney several times and she was professional, kind and most certainly always does what is in the best interest of the children. She represented us in 3 cases that we needed to protect a minor. She did an excellent job and the end result was a safe, happy child each time. The cases involved a separate child each time. Andrea Muldovan is the best!

Our mother needed care for a number of aliments including dementia, Parkinson’s disease, and diminished vision. We sought care in a licensed facility. Eventually, we learned that our mother sustained numerous falls, including falling out of a wheelchair while being transported by staff; falling in her room and later discovered by staff with her head lodged between nightstand and bed; and other incidents which remained unreported to family. Eventually, mom died. We sought answers from Ken Bernard and the legal team at Sherrod & Bernard, P.C. Although nothing will bring mom back, we feel a sense of peace knowing that Ken’s team did everything they could to make sure the pain and suffering my mother endured while a resident at the facility would not happen to others. We strongly recommend that you should consult with Sherrod & Bernard, P.C. if you suspect a family member has been a victim of nursing home or assisted living neglect.

The law group of Sherrod & Bernard has put my life back on track. The work of Hannah Field and her professional care and detail of finance and personal concern, excellent!! Mr. Bernard’s work effort and care for his clients is very much above and beyond. The group as a whole has made my healing possible.

Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Douglasville, Georgia?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
