Pros
1
Competent and effective legal representation
“Joshua was very competent handling a hit & run lawsuit involving my young son on an ATV.”
2
Compassionate and caring approach
“During the most difficult time of my life, there was Josh. He provided his services beyond what I expected. He represented me legally; that part I expected. What I didn't expect was the personal encouragement, the brotherly care and compassion that came from behind the beard.”
3
Strong communication and client support
“Josh always took away my anxious/nervousness about my case, always made me feel extremely confident. With good reasoning, he never let them railroad me like they always tried to do.”
4
Effective in family law cases, including child custody and support
“Hiring Mr. Welch's to be my attorney throughout some coparenting disputes helped bring more peace into my life that my kids and myself deserved.”
5
Excellent results for clients
“Case was settled and I do believe it was all because I had him by my side!”
Cons
1
Lack of communication and transparency regarding billing
“Then, when you least expect it they send you a bill, after the first bill I spoke to them. But I paid, then we went to court on Ma”
2
Potential lack of preparation or awareness of case details
“we went to court on May 2, 2022, for nothing because not only did we lost the case but also I was charged $840 on June 2, 2022 for court and paperwork, ok so I paid that bill after court, then on July 6, 2022 I receive another invoice for $400 for emails and phone calls, come on people when did I ask you to continue talking to the other party and why did you continue to keep in touch when I lost the case and my child custody.”

to sincerely thank Jennifer McCall’s legal office for their genuine services. I had worked with Jennifer before in a previous divorce case and knew that she gets the job done. This time, Jennifer was not my first choice for representation because this child was born out of marriage and I associated her with family law and divorces, not custody. So I went with a referral from a friend that was way more expensive. That law office and attorney did not listen to me or fight for me or my daughter at all. I fired them and remembered custody cases are family law and and proceeded to hire Jennifer for this custody case. With Jennifer’s office I always felt heard throughout the entire process. This was important to me for the reason that I’m a father fighting for the rights to be with his child. We all know how much of an uphill battle it can be for fathers fighting for their children in the justice system. Jennifer took the time to listen to my story and the facts. Then she fought to have a guardian ad litem appointed. Her office always kept me up to date with how the case was progressing. Jennifer cares about people. She cares about me. She cares about you and your children. She will go the extra distance to fight for you and your children throughout your personal struggle. From the bottom of my heart Thank You, Jennifer.

Jennifer McCall is intelligent, strategic, and will not judge you for your baby daddy drama. She’s also very honest about her rate and the process. I appreciate she prioritizes having bilingual staff and is herself multilingual. You can’t find a more sympathetic and strategic person for family law in north Georgia. I highly recommend her.

After being involved in a car accident, Mark Boychuk was recommended to me & after meeting with him, I felt very confident that he was knowledgeable & experienced in car/truck accident cases. Without hesitation, we decided to allow Mark to handle our case. My case took nearly a year to resolve, but Mark was available by text or by phone call throughout the entire process each and every day. I am a very thorough person, and Mark always took the time to reply thoroughly & completely. When the offers began to come in from the insurance company, he was not satisfied until he had negotiated as much as possible for my case. He worked hard & got us a fair amount. When it came time to settle my medical bills, he fought for me tooth & nail & got my medical bills reduced as much as possible. He is worth every dollar I paid him, and I am grateful that I went with Mark Boychuk for my car accident.

I needed a great attorney with energy for my case. Mark jumped in and I received twice what I expected the case was worth. I have actually known Mark for at least a decade and trust his integrity and honesty. I have also sent friends and family members to him. Like me, they like Mark and will always seek him when needed.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Gainesville, Georgia?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
