Since my last review, Jerry and his team continued to deliver for me. If you want personalized, expert legal advice and litigation support from an experienced attorney, then look no further than Parisi Law. You get Jerry, NOT an inexperienced associate. Jerry, Cyndi and Leah- thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything you have done for me and my family over the past few years. It’s easy, call Parisi

Juli and her team were fantastic to work with throughout our adoption. They answered questions and responded to emails or calls same day. They explained every step and made sure we understood the process and even gave us pointers in a folder for after adoption. The team is great, and I would recommend them to anyone.

Juli made this complicated process very easy for us. Any questions or concerns that we had were addressed in a timely manner and she always made herself available. She even brought all the necessary paperwork to us...we never had to leave our house. She was a blessing to us and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend her.

This is our second Bankruptcy in our lifetime. The differences between the 2 attorneys are like night and day. We weren't kept in the loop with the first attorney nor did we get answers to our questions. Shelley has gone over and above my expectations for this bankruptcy. It has been a breathe of fresh air and I highly recommend her if you are in the market for a bankruptcy lawyer.

I retained Mr. Lewellen to represent me on a disability case, and am so thankful I did. I cannot stress how professional, patient, kind, and fair he was throughout the process. I would not hesitate to use his services in the future, and wound certainly refer anyone in need of legal services to him.

After attempting to get awarded disability from Social Security for over 18 months on my own, filling out many multiple page filing documents, while dealing with the effects of cancer and the many side effects of Radiation and Chemo Therapy. Failing repeatedly, I contacted Mr. Lewellen. After approx. 5 months, Mr. Lewellen managed to get it done. I am eternally grateful.

We recently moved here from Wisconsin. I was waiting on an appeal from Wisconsin along with my Wisconsin attorney. The decision came in stating my case go back to the Administrative Judge here in Georgia. My Wisconsin lawyer decided he did not wish to proceed here with my case and dismissed himself after almost 4 years. I was shocked. What to do now? I started making phone calls for SSD Attorneys here explaining my case. Not knowing many people let alone any attorney's here, it was a hard find. I contacted attorney's via a Google search. I met with a few, but was either told they did not feel my case was winnable or I just flat out did not like them. Then I met Leonard. I spent about 2 hours in his office in our 1st meeting. He was very likable and knowledgeable. My new hearing was coming up soon and I needed a lawyer, but I was not going to settle for anyone. My future was hanging in the balance. Leonard made me feel welcome and explained to me that this was not going to be easy and we had our work cut out for both of us. His honesty and truthfulness helped with my decision. I felt comfortable and hired Leonard. Many meetings later and tons of paperwork coming in from Wisconsin, our hearing date was set. It may have been a bit overwhelming for Leonard, but he never complained. Always reminding me, this is going to be difficult Joe. I liked that about him. He always gave me a feeling that he knew more then he was letting onto. Me, I was helping with getting things ordered from Wisconsin and we both settled in for a long hearing. I was hopeful having all our paper work in order as well as all the doctors notes. With Leonard beside me, I knew we had a good case. A winnable case! Long story short, We Won That Hearing! We won that hearing on Jan 15,2015. Leonard never gave up, nor did I. To Leonard, should you read this, Thank you sir. To anyone reading this review, should you ever need an attorney who will fight for you, give this man a chance. He will not disappoint you.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Jefferson, Georgia?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
