I have never experienced this level of unprofessionalism and lack of knowledge combined! She is the reason why attorneys get such a bad rep. I had to educate her since she had no idea what a termite bond or a bait system were, but she's in the business. Then, she hung up the phone during a civil conversation with a client. I'm glad we won't have the displeasure of watching her court performance....

Joseph wolenski is exactly what you want in a lawyer. His dedication to each client is unprecedented. Every step he took was discussed with me first as to avoid any "unexpected" situations. He works quickly and efficiently, and still manages to make personal contacts, not once did I hear from someone other than Mr. Wolenski. Joseph Wolenski went above and beyond what I had expected from any lawyer. Not having Joseph Wolenski represent you in court would be like not having water in the desert. I highly recommend him to anyone who wishes to avoid confusion and constant call backs from "personal assistants"; if you would like to be treated with respect and get your moneys worth then Joseph Wolenski is the attorney you want representing you.

Mr. Land helped me through a custody battle that was over two states and lasted over 10 years. I had a vicious and litigious ex-husband. The thing I liked best about Mr. Land is that he is always calm, does not tell you what you might want to hear but tells you exactly what to expect. I've worked with lawyers that like to get you inflamed so you will spend more time in litigation. Mr. Land was able to get this case closed!

Fakiha's knowledge, courtroom abilities and pre-trial preparation helped me get kids custody as well as a just and equitable division. She was instrumental in being able to communicate to the court my side of the story with facts and witnesses where required. There are no winners in family court but she did a great job in representing and fighting my case. Anyone going through a difficult time can always connect with Fakiha and get consultation and make a decision on their own to retain her services. I can highly recommend her based on my experience.

I retained Ms. Fakiha Khans legal services earlier this year. My sister was going through a very difficult divorce with her ex who was extremely conniving and abusive during the marriage. We had changed several attorneys , and the case had still not been finalized in 3 years! I lived in another state, my parents lived over seas, and my poor sister was left all alone to deal with this bad situation. Being a single mom with two little ones, she was thousands of dollars into attorney fees, not to mention the aggravation of dealing with the court system. Overwhelmed and disappointed, she did not know where to turn to when our last attorney started asking for more money. A lady at the salon my sister went to recommended Fakiha Khan. The lady had gone through a similar experience with a controlling ex. We spoke to Fakiha on the phone, and immediately retained her services. It was the best decision we made!! Let me start by saying , Fakiha Khan is an amazing human being! She's has been there to guide us and advise in every step of the way. She has made herself available to listen to us and help us every time we've. needed her. This is a quality we have have been unable to find in any other attorney we have dealt with in the past. During our court trial, Fakiha was a shark! She was so well prepared, articulate, to the point, made sure she addressed all the issues important to us, and with minimal words and perfect examples was able to portray my sisters ex as he was. She also put up with no bullshit from the opposing attorney. And of course we won the case! Trust me when I tell you, she is fantastic! I expect for my sisters ex to create problems for her in the future, but I also know who I will be calling up when that time comes. Fakiha, thank you for all you have done for us! My sister and our family are very grateful to you. Whoever is reading this review, i guarantee you will be not be disappointed. I know this is a very long review, but I can't put into words how blessed and grateful we feel to have found someone as smart, kind and compassionate as Fakiha.

Ms Khan, has been my attorney for the past 2 years and every time, I’m so grateful that I found her to deal with my difficult and frustrating divorce!! Ms Khan is intelligent, knowledgeable and extremely efficient. She grasps the situation at hand quick and delivers. She has also represented me at court and did an amazing job in winning my case. She dealt with tact and being a bull dog of an attorney, which I required her to be at the same! Time again & again, she has impressed with her outstanding compassion and kindness! She is an asset to her firm and I’m so happy I have her to represent me!!

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Johns Creek, Georgia?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
