Attorney Goldberg was amazing and one of the best lawyers I could ever find. He truly went beyond to help me resolve my case successfully, he did everything he could by going the extra mile to communicate with the prosecutor to get my case resolved without having a hearing. Throughout the process, he kept me updated and discussed all the steps necessary to achieve the outcome that I’d expected. I’d highly recommend Attorney Goldberg to anybody for his great work and dedication!

Mr. Goldberg was successful in my case, & in fact brought me the best possible outcome on two occasions. He is extremely knowledgeable, was thorough in his work on my cases, & is someone I have no hesitation recommending you hire. He also remained in communication with me throughout the process. He expertly instructed & prepared me, regarding whatever was in my best interests to accomplish. I appreciate his desire, & following through, to fully advocate for me as his client. If you need an attorney who will absolutely fight for your rights, hire Mr. Goldberg! I am so relieved, and am extremely fortunate to have him represent me. With much gratitude, I can say he is outstanding!!

As a Georgia registrant, I write this review with the utmost appreciation and respect for my experience working with Mr. Goldberg in addressing my "leveling" by the State of Georgia's Sexual Offender Risk Review Board (SORRB). It is my hope that anyone in a similar position will consider Mr. Goldberg's representation - especially given the challenges in finding a competent, trustworthy, capable advisor in this area of the law. I first became aware of Mr. Goldberg after thoroughly researching attorneys with experience in registrant-related legal affairs, and specifically, experience in the SORRB "leveling" process. After reviewing prior cases, peer reviews, and client reviews, Ben surfaced to the top as someone with deep experience and success in working on behalf of clients on the Georgia registry. As many can attest, it can be a challenge to find a trustworthy and capable advisor who faithfully executes his/her role rather than overpromising in order to secure a paying client - most especially in this area of the law. From our first conversation, I appreciated Ben's candor, his insights into the Georgia leveling process, and his willingness to interact with me as a person with value. In a word...dignity. I selected Ben in order to assist me with requesting a "leveling" decision from SORRB. I had been on probation for several years and reached a point where I was ready to seek early termination of probation. In support of my termination petition, it was my hope to show how the State of Georgia had "leveled" me from a risk perspective. Ben quickly determined that SORRB had not yet undertaken a review of my case, and we had an opportunity to collect a host of supportive information and submit to SORRB so that they had a "well rounded" picture of who I am TODAY. Ben demonstrated deep knowledge of the information that was needed, and he directed me throughout the process of getting everything together. It isn't the easiest process in the world...it can be an emotionally difficult exercise to confront this matter, but Ben was there every step of the way to keep my expectations grounded in reality, and to counsel me on how I can best represent myself to those who would make a decision with such great consequence for my future. Much to our surprise, SORRB's initial decision was a "Level 2" rating. Ben responded immediately with a plan to appeal the decision, and he walked me through a structured, rational approach that addressed the initial rating. After submitting our appeal materials, the case was reexamined, and the Level 2 was successfully downgraded to a Level 1. Had I tried undertaking this process myself, I have no doubt that I wouldn't have achieved this outcome. It can be challenging to persist through emotionally wrenching experiences like the SORRB leveling process. I trusted Ben to handle my case with due diligence, and he vindicated that trust with "above and beyond" effort, with confidence persistence, and with the determination to honor his role as my counsel. Ben's professionalism, moral character and rational intellect have made an indelible impact on the course of my future, and I cannot recommend him enough to anyone facing the imposing challenge of addressing registry-related matters in Georgia.

"I had the pleasure of having Nicole Westmoreland representing me on a gun-related case in miami Florida, and I couldn’t be happier with the outcome—she got the case dismissed! Nicole was extremely professional throughout the entire process and delivered exceptional results. Her communication was always clear, and she kept me informed every step of the way. While her services were on the expensive side, I truly believe you get what you pay for, and Nicole was worth every penny. I highly recommend her to anyone in need of a top-tier attorney."

Ms Westmoreland is special compared to most lawyers. What separates her most is the fact she actually cares. Most lawyers separate emotion which makes them just do work and go home and forget it about it. Mrs Westmoreland has passion and uses it to fight for you. Dealing with her taught me that if a lawyer doesn't actually care they are not the right lawyer!!

In Dealing with Nicole I realized I had the wrong lawyers all along. Nicole Westmoreland won my case for me. Whenever I called her she answered. I asked her how was she always available to answer my calls and give me so much attention and she replied she doesn't take every case that comes her way. She said if she is flooded with cases how could she effectively represent anyone. She just wouldn't have the time. She just makes sense !! Thank you for everything attorney Westmoreland !!

Mr. Welch was assigned to me though Cobb County Courts years ago. After helping me with that case, I hired him for several more. From a divorce to a DUI. He is the ONLY attorney I would ever use and have since recommended him to others.

Having Eric Welch represent me in my DUI case was a godsend. I was facing a 3rd DUI and I was very concerned about my future. I have never felt like previous lawyers I spoke to listened to my struggles nor cared until now. He was always readily available to answer all me questions. He took my case extremely seriously and seemingly personal. Eric Welch was able to get the courts to reduce my charge to a Reckless Driving and I couldn’t have been happier with his services. Had I retained any other attorney, I do not think I would have obtained the result that I did. I highly recommend him.

Mr. Welch represented me on a case which most others considered unwinnable. His knowledge and willingness to delve into the subject matter, research it, and ultimately win a victory for his client was gratifying. Add to that a good sense of humor, and you've got excellent representation.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Marietta, Georgia?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
