I happened to get to know Peter Wosnik through my step daughter that needed a public defender. She had gotten herself in some very serious trouble due to the friends that she was hanging around. Even though she lived with her husband and two daughters in Monroe, her mother and myself did our best to give her advice and try to guide her away from the crowd she was hanging out with.
Two weeks prior to her meeting Peter waznic she rolled her car and walked away from the accident and went to the hospital with drugs inside the car. Monroe police was looking for her.
She met a guy that was considerably older than her with a rap sheet that wou
ld make any parent very concerned.
For two weeks he gave her rides because her car was totaled and Her husband was never home.
As the saying goes she was at the wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong person that was dealing methamphetamine. There was a Chase, bags were being thrown out and the chase stoped with an accident. She then ran because water was building up in the car, she hid behind a tree until they found her. She was charged with trafficking methamphetamine, both of them and fleeing and eluding officer.
Peter Wosnik was appointed her public defender on her first court hearing.
Mr. Wosnik got to work right away by interviewing my daughter to get all the information while it was fresh in her mind. Public defenders don't have a very good reputation from what I've heard and what I've seen in the past but this man being a public defender responded like we paid him money. He definitely got on the job and got the job done. He kept in contact with us,returned our phone calls, went to see the client(my daughter) on request. Was very very courteous no issues whatsoever. I would rate him a five-star to anyone.
The trial came,Peter Wosnik had back bone. The jury found her not guilty of trafficking and distributing meth. which carried a sentence of 60 years. She was found guilty of fleeing which was impossible to beat....
The judge gave her a year and some probation. She will be released in January if not before (Praise the Lord!).
Thank you Mr. Wosnik and God be with you and your family always.
Sincerely, a greatful Parent.
