Before now, I've never hired a lawyer for any matter. I didn't even know if my case was worth it. I searched for days looking for a criminal lawyer to handle my case, and most were fairly rude. Holly Peace was the last person I spoke to and she assured me that if we worked together she would do her best to handle my case, and she did. All cases are not the same. There are tons of loopholes and it can be confusing, but Holly always invested time into teaching me everything I needed to know. We walked into court and my case was completely dismissed. Holly diligently provided evidence that supported my innocence and handled all communication for me. I honestly felt like a celebrity in court because there was nothing I needed to say, worry about, and I was able to maintain a certain level of privacy in front of the courtroom. That is not something you will have if you do not hire a lawyer. If you happen to find yourself in an unexpected situation - please hire Holly Peace for any criminal matters. Do not go into court without a lawyer, no matter how small the situation is because the court system can take advantage of you. Huge shoutout to everyone at Manning Peace, including Madi for providing me with my official dismissal papers quickly.

I had Mrs Manning as a lawyer on a misdemeanor charge and I couldn’t be happier with the results.she was pearly very well known among Fayette county courts. She got me a sweet deal that I only had to pay a 700$ fine and no probation. That, I was totally not expecting or thought was possible in Fayette county State court. Beyond blessed that she helped me get back my life after this moment of irresponsibility on my part. She will go to work for you I promise just listen to her advice and I assure you that you won’t get better representation. She knows exactly what she is doing. It’s worth the money i promise she will help you.

I found myself in a very delicate domestic situation that included multiple arrest, kids, and special bond conditions. All of which were, primarily, based off false allegations. Finding the best attorney was paramount in order to defend my freedom but most importantly, my reputation and name. A close friend suggested Holly Peace of Manning & Peace. I scheduled my consultation and quickly knew that I had found my attorney for life. Holly took the time to explain the details of the legal process in a manner that I could easily understand. But she spent even more time LISTENING to my side with an open mind and non-judgmental demeanor. She worked diligently on my defense and was always prompt in answering any question I might have had. She provided an honest assessment to the risk-reward possibility with every decision. Which, in my case, led me to fight the allegations to the fullest extent by going to a jury trial. Holly was an absolute "Star" throughout the trial. She connected with the members of the jury and tactfully challenged the state and their witnesses. She articulated the facts of the case versus the allegations which led the jury to find me NOT GUILTY on all counts. Holly's staff were all a direct extension of her. Cindy Manning, her partner, was kind enough to provide co-counsel during the jury selection and trial at no additional cost. She and I had never met prior to that. But she walked right up and sat next to me and treated me as if I were her own client. Madi, their office manager, was always so kind when scheduling events with me and dealing with the financial side of the matter. She also joined us at trial to help with jury selection along with awesome moral support. Holly's mother even attended the trial. Not only for moral support but to be an unbiased witness to how the proceedings were developing. If you find yourself in a scary legal scenario like the one I was in, I would high recommend Holly Peace! One of the best decisions I have made in my 42 years of life. K. Wingo

  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Peachtree City, Georgia?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
