James was able to help me navigate successfully thru the process of filing my QDRO. He made all the difference ! After months of frustration, trying to accomplish this on my own, James was a beacon of light handling my case with ease. He was always patient & responsive, unlike any attorney, I have ever met. I always felt as though I was talking to a friend, someone who cared, someone who would help. I highly recommend James for anyone who needs an attorney with integrity, honesty, compassion & competency.

When I first got Divorced I was not in a position to afford an attorney and agreed to some things that I did not understand would have detrimental effects in the long term. However thanks to James and unfortunately for my ex-wife and her attorney James was not only able to correct my errors but set me in a position to not have to ever again be in constant fear of my ex-wife threats of dragging me back into court because he truly understands the LAW and will protect your rights like no other. I am grateful for his attention to detail and he's just a very smart individual who will fight hard for you in whatever legal issue you maybe facing GUARANTEED!!!

If you want a law firm that truly will help you avoid this one at all costs. Being as though I'm a disabled vet and I needed help with a family law case I was referred here. Even though it was a pro bono case they didnt do anything to help my case. I now see the blessing in this if I had paid my hard earned money I would have been more disappointed than I already was. Do yourself a favor and go with another law firm you will be glad that you did. The people I worked with truly did not care and they did not offer any true resolve to my case. Beware you have been warned.

I am a 90% disabled veteran attempting to recoup lost benefits from mistreatment by the Army National Guard. Reached out to Patti Shewmaker and spoke with someone who’s demeanor on the phone appeared to be nothing more than refuting my intentions bye quickly telling me I was wrong based on her understanding of the limited facts that she had from me within a five minute phone call. Was unable to give the complete story of what happened with me. This lady came off as rude, abrupt and just not very comfortable to talk to. Rather than continuing what seemed to be a process no more comfortable than a tooth extraction appointment with my dentist, I used my best judgment and ended the conversation with this rude lady. Word to the wise, before you spend thousands of dollars, ensure they have the communication skills needed to take care of you.

James is hands down one of best attorneys in Atlanta. He handled my military divorce case and was able to get me and my children everything I needed to thrive as a single mother of four. He is thorough, hard working attorney who actually cares about his clients. James always made himself available to me even if I just needed to vent. I have referred a number of my friends to him and will use him for all of my legal matters in the future. I would consider James or as I call him Jimmy a part of my family.
