I hired Joey back in 2020 to handle my dui case and after 3 years with almost no contact without chasing him down and only getting him to appear at 1 court date I went in and got my case resolved by myself. He did absolutely nothing on my case, didn't even show me a discovery of evidence from my case, and even lied that nothing can be done but to plea guilty with dui and take whatever they give me. After going to my court date alone they offered me a plea deal to reckless driving with a fee and a year of probation which is fine with me. If I had stuck with him as my lawyer I would still be waiting for another court date and probably going to trial, which I believe with this person as my lawyer I would have lost. I'll be seeking full reimbursement since the job was never done and I hope no one ever makes the mistake of hiring this "lawyer" for their matters.

I paid for his services November 25, 2020 and yet to receive the documents I paid for. I asked for my refund a week ago, even being fair and accepting half of my payment back and Mr. Turner has yet to refund me. At this point I will be taking the appropriate course of action in regards to his practice. I would highly recommend against retaining Joey Turners service.

I don’t even know where to start, I had an incident occurred that was not my fault back in 2019. I hired Mr. Turner who stated he will try his best to make sure I got the defense I deserved. Due to Covid-19 the case kept getting pushed back and the prosecution wanted me to plead. I asked Mr. Tuner to fight, he said he would. As time went by I was getting worried because I didn’t hear anything about the case. Mr. Tuner advised me to this was normal due to issues around Covid19. Now thanks to him everything turn out great and the case was dismissed. The court system are crazy right now due to covid19 but Mr. Turner did a great job and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him.

I originally inquired with Mr. Joseph "Joey" Turner in September 2020 on a DUI case that has been pending since January 2019. During the initial consultation, it was indicated to Joey that resolving the case as quickly as possible was of grave concern due to my federal and military employment. Joey stated that the case should be resolved by the end of the year (2020) in which he was already in discussions with the Solicitor and was readily agreeable to the resolution. A year later, having since been discharged and denied four transfer and promotions my case is still pending. Recent contact with the Solicitors office suggests that Joey has not made contact with their office regarding my case. Unfortunately, the only time I can get Joey to return a call is when I send a certified letter to him, which I have done twice already. He will then set new deadlines and I do not hear from him again. I read the reviews of his prior communication issues/concerns and after speaking with Joey, he was prompt, courteous and responsive until I tendered my payment in full to him. I also see this to be common report from his peers and other reviewers/clients Please folks, do your research prior to hiring Mr. Turner.

"Without the help of the Turner Law Firm, I know that I would not have had the successful outcomes I have had. Mr. Turner took on an extremely difficult case and encountered issues that no one expected and few had ever seen. He worked continuously to make sure that the truth was told and presented it perfectly. He has stood by every one of my requests and guided me through the entire lengthy process. Though we faced challenges, Mr. Turner did not falter. His thorough research provided us the pathway we needed to rise to victory. I will only recommend Mr. Turner as I have never been nor have I ever seen anyone treated better. I am proud to be a Turner Law Firm client and will continue to retain them for all legal matters that may arise as I know I am in the best hands." Thank You Mr.Turner

I was referred to Christie from my in-house counsel as I wanted to review Estate planning and update my Will. She was so accomodating and quick to respond. She also provided additional security measures for my estate, and while she recommended them, she was not pushy and accepted my decisions. If you are ever in need of a solid attorney for Wills or Estates, there is an outstanding one in Savannah, GA.

As an attorney, I knew that I wanted someone very smart, skilled, and respected to represent me in a contract dispute. Christie went above and beyond to keep me informed of what was happening in my case, and did a wonderful job drafting and negotiating a settlement. The other party was at times very difficult to deal with, but Christie was a consummate professional and was able to negotiate around all of his concerns. I would recommend her to anyone who wants a true "advocate" working on his or her behalf.

Christie has been an important resource for me as I have started to operate my pet sitting business as a "real" business. I felt much more secure having Christie form my LLC rather than fumbling around trying to do it on my own. Christie is also an excellent writer. She took my mismatched business policies and formed them into a cohesive whole that I'm proud to share with my clients. I really value Chrisie's help in taking my business to the next level.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Savannah, Georgia?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
