Attorney Roper was very helpful with two matters that we needed assistance with legally. She assisted with our refinance of our home which made it a stress-free process and was very informative and supportive throughout the entire process. We are looking to use Attorney Roper for current and future matters. Thank you for your assistance, knowledge of the law, professionalism, dedication, and on-going service.

Bryan Bockhop was instrumental in procuring a federal trademark when it was unclear we would be successful given the general nature of our name. He was very thorough in providing suggestions, alternative strategies and in navigating the USPTO. I would strongly recommend his services.

Hi - My relationship with Bryan was via the recommendation of Evelyn Ashley. This 5 year relationship has been my first experience with patents/IP. Bryan has been very patient with me and explains all reasons and thoughts in detail. I trust his judgment and we have had very good results from his patent efforts. I would and have recommended Bryan to those who have asked.

Attorney Melanie and her team have been exceptionally outstanding since retaining her for my divorce. Her stance is diligent, and one of great dignity. Her representation has always been “ to the point” and she supports her clients in all capacity. She is not an attorney that will use unnecessary tactics to delay your case because she understands the pain and hurt that it places on the children of these divorces. Her commitment and respect to you the client, and the courts as well is by far, top tier. I highly suggest anyone looking for an attorney with integrity, utilize her services. She has been around for quite awhile and she’s not an attorney “out to make a quick buck”. Her overall rating is beyond the stars the you place in these reviews, because Attorney Melanie, and her team, “still operate with high morals, ethics, principles and within law, so that the system and other unethical lawyers, don’t take advantage of her clients!!!! I could literally write a book on the service and commitment that Melanie and her team have exhibited!

I would like to give Fenwick Thompson & Associates a huge THANK YOU!! I was referred to Attorney Melanie Fenwick Thompson from an another attorney that couldn’t take my case because of the county I reside in. That attorney referred me to Attorney Melanie Fenwick Thompson. Melanie and her team provided me with a quick detailed consultation so that I could explain my case and she explained my options. Her and her team are very thorough and got my divorce moving fast. All our communication was done on there client portal for tracking purposes which really helped. This way if I couldn’t remember something I could always go back to my portal. It took about 8 months to get my divorce finalized and everything was done via email communication through the portal. I never had to appear in court or to Melanie’s office for anything. I would definitely recommend Fenwick Thompson & Associates to anyone who needs a good attorney on their side. I couldn’t have asked for a better attorney to represent me. Thanks again! Nyisha Clements

Prior to hiring Attorney Melanie Thompson, I made the mistake of hiring a cheap lawyer who cost me way more than money. Because I made the mistake of hiring the wrong lawyer, I had over 3 different judges look at me as a person with no dignity, no integrity, no honor, which almost caused me to lose custody of both my children (ages 1 and 4 months). After hiring Attorney Melanie Thompson, she quickly restored my dignity, integrity, and honor to the judge in court. Not only did she take me on as a new client (while she was on vacation), she showed empathy and offered another viewpoint that gave me hope. I had faith in the process and her wisdom as an experienced lawyer. I’m happy to say I have both my children and grateful that they will know me, their mother, the one who birth and cared for them, all thanks to the hard work Attorney Melanie Thompson and her team did to restore my credibility. I am truly grateful! I got more than hope back, I got my life back! Thank you all again 10 times over!!! If you are in a situation where you need a lawyer, don’t go to the cheap lawyers, they could cost you more than just money, they can cost you your life and your freedom. Hire Attorney Melanie Thompson and her team as they are professional and they will provide you impeccable representation.

So I was referred to Attorney rouse by a good friend of my mother. I’m a cdl driver so I was looking for someone to help me with a major traffic violation that could have my license revoked for a long time. I called Mr. Rouse and he was very open about how we could go about things and what we should do moving forward with the case. He actually was very reasonable with pricing and worked with me as far as my budget. He advised me before I went to court to take a driver improvement course and to do some community service to make it a little easier on myself before going in front of the judge.this was actually great advice. We went to court and to my surprise the clerks and judge knew him on first name basis(that made me feel good) everything that he asked for , the judge granted. I left the court room only with a 300 dollar fine and no points on my cdl. Well later that night I didn’t know the rules as far as punishment for serious violations for cdl drivers. I check the dds and my cdl is suspended for 10 years, for a major lifetime violation. I immediately called attorney rouse and informed him. He advised me that the only thing we possibly could do was withdraw the plea. Normally with most lawyers, after the case is closed you have to pay another fee just to consult again. Attorney rouse was at the court house the next morning, I met him there and we withdrew the plea. Days passed by and I was weary because i was in fear of losing my livelihood. Attorney rouse advised me that since the head solicitor was not willing to give us a lesser please maybe we should try a bench trial. In my head when I think of trial, if you lose it could be bad for you. Of course this came with another fee, I really didn’t wanna try it but I took a step out in faith and trusted attorney rouse’s suggestion. We went to the bench trial and attorney rouse ate them alive. He told me months before, “ you could possibly beat this off of a technicality” I’m thinking nah man I’m cooked! Attorney rouse did his research and I walk out of the court room acquitted, all charges dropped. Before the trial attorney rouse and I talked about the fans leaving the stadium in the at the Atlanta Falcons vs. Tampa game and they still won. I’m not gonna lie I thought I was doomed but I watched him work in that court room for 2 hours straight, objection after objection…. When we walked out he looked at me and said you left the stadium but we won in OT! Hire this firm…. We highly recommend this guy. He’s straight up and down

I was referred to Attorney Rouse after a few consultations I made with other attorneys that didn’t go quite so well. You can probably only imagine all the anxiety and stress that builds up by not knowing what to exactly expect (much like most) in an unfamiliar situation like this. I must say, most of my concerns, my questions and options were pretty much communicated to me in layman’s terms, I felt a sense of ease and quite impressed with my experience in every point of communication. Attorney Rouse was always professional and very patient with making sure he educates you on his knowledge and strategy so you will leave the conversation with some comfort in knowing that both parties are clear in regards to the desired outcome in mind so you just simply have to “Trust the Process”! I must admit by making the choice to choose Attorney Rouse for representation, the overall experience completely exceeded my all of my expectations. For anyone looking to work with an Attorney, who operates with integrity, professionally in such a manner that is not usually represented in the field of Attorneys(I really wish I did not have to point this out), I would definitely (highly) suggest that you reach out Attorney Rouse for consultation. You will quickly realize why you would choose him to represent you. Thank you for creating a safe space/ judgement free zone for clients and giving them an opportunity to be heard. I wish you much success in your future.

I had a complicated criminal case that changed through the course of the two year case. Mr Rouse handles things in a professional manner comprehensive explanation of the situation once its time to handle his business he does just that I thought I was going to prison but he was able to get my sentance into something manageable. When he walks in the court room you can see the respect the court has for his work. He talks to you like a person not like a paid client doesn't make you feel dumb if your not educated on a situation he will explain in a kind clear and consice way. If you don't know who to turn to and you don't wanna get lost in a larger lawfirm but need a legal warrior he is your guy. And he isn't a coward or scared in court he knows his stuff. Would recommend him for anything pertaining the law. If you have any doubts contact Rouse and associates.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Snellville, Georgia?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
