Where do I start? Let’s just say, stay away from this office. Her paralegal Walter is so unprofessional, doesn’t take care of business and pull rates out of the side of his neck...meanwhile she never gets on the phone to talk to you. Walter will joke and poke fun at your situation like a little 13 year old giggling boy, never get back to you, or does anything he says he will handle. You will never receive a call back and if you do once the answering service has routed your call, hopefully it won’t be an emergency because it’ll be hours! I’ll take my money ELSEWHERE! Someone that actually wants to work for it and not just throw out random rates and don’t want to do anything. Like what am I hiring YOU for! Thanks to her assistant, another potential client gone! I’ve heard this same thing but tried to give her a chance because she was close in the area.

Attorney Clark and her entire staff were very professional, very attentive and are just Experts with Law. She showed a very caring, understanding, and gentle spirit throughout the duration of my divorce proceedings. They really make you feel like family from beginning to the end which is especially important while going through an emotional unwanted divorce. They never delivered empty promises or false hopes! I highly recommend Attorney Clark and her staff for any of your legal needs!

Horrible attorney for divorce, she stop communicating with me during a child custody matter. She never informed of a fraudulent motion being filed against me, I had to do some investigating to discover this on my own. She put her personal opinion in what she felt I deserved and told me I would never get what I was asking for from my ex-husband. I had to fire her and get a new attorney several months into my pending divorce, which my new attorney worked to get me everything I asked for and more. She then had the nerve to sue me and claim her work played a part in the settlement I was receiving. She had a revolving door of administrative help, she had outrages billing practices. She would bill me attorney's rate for administrative duties. Not my fault she lost her paralegal and secretary, I never agreed to pay an attorney's rate for her to make copies. Maybe she should just stick to slip and fall cases, and don't ever take on another divorce case. Which mine may have been her first as I was also billed for her research on what should have been basic divorce situations.

I was married for 24 years between my ex husband and myself we have used just about every attorney in Henry county. Most recently my ex husband has had me in a custody battle for a year now. Michelle Clark has went against the system in order to get me justice and the truth out. She has integrity and ethics that money can't buy. Best Ive seen in the courtroom and has a passion for truth and justice for her client. I recommend her for divorce and child custody battles.

Mr. Lotti represented my family in a criminal defense matter. He was extremely attentive to our requests for information and often provided information to us before we were required to ask. In providing information to our questions he made sure we fully understood the implications of accepting certain pleas or taking a certain course of action. He diligently prepared for his court appearance and maintained close contact throughout the entire preparation period. I have dealt with attorneys in the past who were unwilling to communicate freely with their clients or kept them in the dark. Mr. Lotti is a fine example of everything an attorney should be! He was extremely willing to negotiate prices and or payment plans associated with the costs of representation. Overall it was a great experience and I have already recommended his services to many of my friends and family members.

Attorney Gantt was very professional and I am very pleased with her work. She handled both my divorce and Loan modification. My ex was trying to get over, and Ms. Gantt left no table unturned. She made sure I got what I deserved. All I wanted is to play fair, Attorney Gantt made sure that happened.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Stockbridge, Georgia?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
