Having to go thought a divorce is horrible, having to find someone who can represent you is another difficult task. Before I came to this office I went though a few lawyers and they all seemed interested in one thing, money. They all dismissed what was more important to me, my daughter. I thought I was never going to find someone who understood what I needed. Until someone guided me to Jim’s office. At first I was a bit worried because I thought this might be the same thing. To my surprise this was a very different world. I felt heard, I felt like they understood what was important for me. Most of all the one person who helped me throughout this whole situation was Lora. I couldn’t have gone through all of this with out her help. She sincerely opened her heart and shared her help in way I couldn’t began to describe. I know that lawyers are always busy, but when they have someone like Lora, who reminds them of certain situations and someone who cares a lot about what you are going through and does her best to make sure you understand everything that is happening even if it means after hours or on the weekend. I can’t fully express my gratitude to her, if it wasn’t for her help and guidance I don’t know how things could have ended. Thankfully my situation concluded and I was okay thanks to this team. I will forever thank them for their help, and if anyone is having a hard time and need help I think this is a great office and a great team that could help you. I highly recommend them.

This team is full of good people with good morals & will fight & represent your family well. They are honest, very detailed oriented, aggressive when needed, knowledgeable, will fight for what is morally right & work with you through your financial situation (& they’re very persistent). I would highly recommend using their team for any custody issues, divorce processes & they will take the time to guide you to do what’s right in the best interests of your children (or whatever situation you may be faced or dealing with). They’re like family….thats how they treated me & my children & the outcome was in my favor. Largely because of how they operate their practice. Jim W., Lora H. & Kevin P. are the only people I’d ever recommend (or trust) in a tough situation like the cases they handle. Their like family & again the way they practice is the right way. My lawyer Jim stepped up big, kept me straight through my own emotions & how to follow the process & the para legal was absolutely amazing, smart, knowledgeable & kept me moving in the right direction. Kevin stepped in on one of my most important hearings & was an all-star representative of my family. Love these people. Their normal good hearted people & not like “the blood sucking lawyers” mentioned in Jurassic Lark. I can’t say enough about what they did for me & my family. God bless each of them, because we handled it in the “right way”. Don’t go to anyone else but them. If you’re truly a good person, parent, wife/husband & your battling with a tough situation I highly recommend their team….& only then team. Trust them, follow their lead & if your intentions are good….their the best team you could hire. I’m forever in debt to these fine American based people. I just can’t say enough. Don’t go anywhere else. Lean on them & their practice/knowledge.

What an opportunity it was to collaborate with Steve on an inbound international tax matter in the preparation of an estate plan. Steve's extensive experience with these topics made working with him a simple affair. Throughout the process, he regularly communicated and updated the team on his progress. The matter was successfully resolved in the client's favor. You would do well to bring Steve on as your counsel. He will ensure you receive the highest level of concierge service and will also keep you smiling. I look forward to working with him again.

After a terrible life-changing work injury I had no idea where to turn or what to do. I found Bross, McAllister, & Williams LLC and was given Mr.Sentor as my attorney & representative. Words can’t describe how Appreciative I am for all of his help. Not only was he caring, but he also completely understood and listened and was very responsive throughout this whole process! Although my life has been altered, he made it comfortable for me to move on with the next step of my life.. I highly recommend BMW law group as your next Worker’s Compensation lawyers. Thxs so much..

Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Suwanee, Georgia?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
