I was in serious trouble after getting a DUI. The police, in their incident report, exaggerated greatly and made me out to be totally incapacitated- which was not the case! I was very worried about losing my job. The case dragged on for two years; and during that whole time she kept me informed and up-to-date on all the details of my case. Whenever I would call (daytime, night time & weekends), Rebecca was always willing to discuss the details and advise me. When we did finally get into court, that's when Rebecca really shined. Rebecca did an amazing job cross-examining the police officers and using the video to refute their police report and testimony. When the case ended, the jury wasted little time in coming back with a Not Guilty verdict. I was so relieved and thankful!!!

Rebecca represented me for my case (DUI and failure to maintain lane). I had no interest in a plea deal, so we ended up going to trial. This turned out to be a good decision as I was found not guilty on both charges. Rebecca was professional and pleasant. She remained positive while also keeping expectations realistic. Ultimately it comes down to results and Rebecca came through for me. It's hard to express how grateful I am for having her by my side in court.

I am a trucker and was in jeopardy of losing my CDL due to a DUI charge. I contacted Rebecca due to her excellent ratings as a DUI attorney as I was seeking only the best. She did NOT disappoint. Rebecca is TRULY the best DUI attorney a client could be represented by. She is extremely knowledgeable, dedicated, communicates well and cares about her clients. Rebecca filed motions to reduce the charge to reckless driving, but ultimately was able to have my case DISMISSED. I highly recommend Rebecca Kozycki-Kozycki Law if you are facing the same issue. Thanks again Rebecca!

After an evening of celebrating my birthday with friends, I was stopped at a road block in the city. The officer asked about my level of alcohol consumption for the evening - I shared with him two glasses of wine. I didn't feel intoxicated, but was detained by the officer as I admitted to having two glasses of wine. I refused field sobriety tests, and consented to breath test. I was booked, released, etc. I run a successful business and I also hold a professional license in Georgia, so I was terrified at how this would impact my career - among other things. How would I tell my family? How would I tell my staff? That same evening, I got online and did a tremendous amount of research - somehow it lead me to this website - I read so many of the attorney's profiles (including Rebecca's) and made a list of attorneys to contact the next day - Rebecca was at the top of the list. I called Rebecca, she answered promptly and professionally - we quickly scheduled a meeting in her office. From the very moment that I met her, I knew that I had found my match - articulate, experienced, compassionate, and right to the point. Without question, I hired her on the spot. She handled everything, and did exactly what she said that she would - she kept me informed, shared with me best and worse case scenarios, and ultimately achieved an exceptional outcome. She appeared in court for the arraignment, was successful in winning the ALS hearing (a big worry of mine was losing my driver's license) - she knew the officer and had a rapport with him. She had the case transferred from City of Atlanta Court to State Court - and the case lingered for quite a while. She filed motions to challenge the State's evidence, and other items. The day prior to the Motions Hearing, Rebecca called me to answer any questions, and was again direct - answering all questions - and assuring me that she was prepared. The morning of the Motions Hearing, she was absolutely prepared - prior to our court time, she shared with me her winning strategy - she had thorough notes, knew all of the aspects of my case, and was ready to "go get them". She knew all of the players involved in my case on the morning of court (including the judge), and I felt far more confident facing this stressful situation with her by my side. The bottom line is that the officer did not show up, she immediately initiated a motion to dismiss to the judge - the judge agreed - and CASE DISMISSED!!!!! The bottom line: if you are facing this same terrible situation as I did, do yourself a favor and stop your search now. Contact Rebecca immediately, and get her on your side to turn the tables around. Oh, and if you ever think of drinking and driving again, don't.

We have recommended Cynthia to friends and associates and will continue to do so. She is experienced in dealing with long-term care, estate planning, care for our children and grandchildren, all explained in terminology that addresses just what we need to do now in our 50s in contingencies for later.

Ms. Azar was referred to me by my estate planning attorney for a counseling regarding a divorce settlement which involved child custody and property settlement matters. I interviewed several attorneys before selecting her. I chose her because she was confident in the outcomes I desired. Other attorneys interviewed came off as arrogant and doubtful of my desired goals. She knew what I needed and she made sure I understood my rights under family law and the obligations of my former spouse. She navigated me through a difficult process and helped to keep the best interests of myself and my child in the forefront of my decisions and negotiations. She spent numerous hours, at my request and at hours that accommodated my work schedule, in telephone consultation. I understood her fee structure and her billing was fair and straightforward. Without Ms. Azar I would not have obtained the divorce agreement that I feel was fair and also provided the protection and security I needed to carry on my life after the divorce. Subsequent to my divorce I returned to Ms. Azar for consultation on several family law matters. Each time I found my investment in her professional advice and service was well spent. I am very grateful that I had Ms. Azar representing me and I would highly recommend her legal services related to divorce, child custody and support, and property settlement.

Back in 2007, when I asked a friend for a good lawyer to help me with child support and custody issues, she heartily recommended Dana Azar. My first meeting with Dana was not exactly smooth, because she insisted on no emotion, and highlighting the issues and exactly what needed to be done. With this focus, she came in and beat a very experienced lawyer on his home turf. Since then, my ex has field charges several times, and I have had to file counter charges. We have won every single time, and in fact, I have had to hold Dana back on several issues, because I did not want my ex to be hurt too much financially or incarcerated. She worked with witnesses, one of my children, a therapist, and hundreds of emails to ensure that I was able to get positive results. I recommend Dana without reservation.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Tucker, Georgia?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
