Just called and asked to leave a message for Rabb Wilkerson to call me back .. asked several times the assistant Rebecca refused to do that ! She was very unprofessional. Leaving one star only because I could not leave a review if I didn’t leave one star …. Rebecca was the name I was given .. she never said she was leaving a message for you to CALL ME .. I have never been to your office . Don’t know the real name of your assistant. Very Unprofessional Phone Call ! I stand by my review .. -Wendy Taylor

While no one wants to find themselves in the unfortunate circumstance of a highly contested divorce involving children, rest assured that your children will be in excellent hands if you’re fortunate enough to secure Ms. Chapman’s services. Unfortunately, like half of married couples, I found myself needing a divorce several years ago. My ex wife and I had 4 children together and custody was extremely contentious. Ms. Chapman was appointed by the court as guardian ad litem to determine the best outcome for the children. Ms. Chapman was the highlight of an otherwise very unpleasant divorce. Her warm & caring demeanor allowed her to put my children at ease. She treated everyone with respect and established a trusting rapport. She was extremely thorough and took her role as guardian very seriously. Equally as important, her office was so easy to work with. Whitney was always pleasant on the phone and worked hard to make sure my needs were met in a way that accommodated everyone's schedule. It was as if she understood that her role in the process had a major effect on the client’s psyche. Ms. Chapman interviewed everyone on the list I provided her and even spoke with persons at the children’s school and their therapists multiple times during her investigation. Her summary was unbiased, child centered and free of emotion which is crucial in these matters. I recall not liking some of what she said in her summary because she was bringing some of my weaknesses to light. However, her assessment was spot on, and she was absolutely correct. Adhering to her suggestions not only made keeping to the parenting plan easier, but also helped me become a better parent. My ex wife was so impressed by her work that two years later when filing for the first custody modification, she specifically requested Ms. Chapman be appointed guardian ad litem. In fact, that might’ve been the only thing we both agreed on from the start. During her second “tour of duty” in our highly contested situation, Ms. Chapman approached the task with the same thorough child focused approach we had come to expect. Her summary was again spot on demonstrating her attention to detail and deep understanding of the situation. If everyone approached their job with the amount of effort & respect that Ms. Chapman does, the world would surly be a better place.

I've hired several attorneys since 2007 to handle extremely difficult divorce/custody cases involving my children and an absolutely unreasonable ex-spouse. Mrs. Chapman handled two or three of those cases. Going forward, I will not even attempt to reach a settlement or step into a court room unless Claire is my attorney. She provided me with "high dollar" representation achieving the best possible outcome and without over charging me like some of the other attorneys did. I highly recommend her for your family law needs.

One thing when Ms. Hynes tells you something you can rest assure that it will be done to the best of her ability. Ms. Hynes will not pull any punches with you she is straight up and honesty and prepares you with every scenario so you are prepared. Ms. Hynes has an awesome and knowledgeable staff who are as honest and supportive as Ms. Hynes. Ms. Hynes took on our case and we owe her more than money and words can describe. She fought for the wellbeing of our child and she helped me and stood beside me and held me up until our case was over and we WON!!!! If you want/need the best in a family court she is the one that you need especially when there are children involved.

Mrs. Hynes has gone above and beyond to help me fight to get custody of my children! I have been working with her for 4 years now she and her staff have been very professional and for the most part very prompt! There have been times that Mrs. Hynes has responded to me while on vacation! We all knew from the start this case was going to be a battle at hand but Mrs. Hynes has fought off two attorneys and in the end I now have custody of all four of my children as of May 6 2019 thanks to Mrs. Hynes and her wonderful staff.. she is the best and very under paid for the services that she offers.

Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Warner Robins, Georgia?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
