Very personable and dynamic. He was able to keep my husband from getting a criminal record by getting the misdemeanor dropped to a violation. He was also about to get his case handled in a really tight timeline because we were moving off island. He immediately understood and explained our options clearly and did a great job as our advocate. This saved us a lot of trouble in the end and we definitely appreciated the work he did for us.

There's a legal issues with my son, which I felt was wrong. I looked for lawyers and Attorney Bakke showed on top for a reason. Attorney Victor Bakke is truly an outstanding lawyer. He took my son's case, explained the whole process, an honest man who really cares for people, especially his clients. I feel very at ease and comfortable and knew right away, we made the best decision getting him, and that we are in good hands. Sure enough, case is dismissed, what a true relief. His staff are also very accommodating, and attorney Bakke always answers our phone calls when we have questions. We feel that we have a family with him. Hope he can help your family as much as he has helped mine. I recommend Attorney Bakke to all my family and friends. World class lawyer with a team of great people. A true great service with positive outcome. Thank you very much Attorney Bakke!

There was a legal issue that I felt was unfair for a family member. Attorny Bakke handled this case like he was this boy's uncle. Made him aware of his action and understood the boys predicament. Teaching him and mentoring him. Strong and passionate. He is class A attorney in court. He has intellectual and has fierce demeanor in court. His presence is noticed.
I personally have been done wrong by Attorneys in the past. Still have not written them a bad review because I believe Khama will handle them. It's such s relief to put your faith in someone and they live up to that. This is the truth. But I hesitate to say more because Yelp has a tendency to only keep the negative replies. But this is from my heart! Hope he can help you as he did my family!

We all make mistakes, and mine was a big one! He reviewed my case and walked with me through options I have.
I was facing a Class B Felony- with a possible 5 year prison time.
This is the first time I've been in trouble with the law, other than a couple traffic infractions.
I truly was scared-
He helped calm me down and through the whole process, I felt somewhat at ease. Given the circumstances.
Instead of jail- and going through the process of a trial, I was eligible for a deferral of sentence. Meaning- I stay out of jail!
Of course, I have some probation and community service I have to take, but all in all... that is definitely the lesser of the evils.
Because of Victor, I have a chance to continue on with my normal daily life. I am a devoted family man, who made a grave mistake. Lesson learned and jail avoided.

Yes, Victor helped me TWICE.
The first time I called Victor for help was back in 2013 when he helped me get my teenage daughter out of trouble. Not only did he do that, but his strong presence balanced with his natural charm helped prevent my kid from being railroaded by the other party, whose parents were both law enforcement. So naturally the cards were stacked against us, but thanks to Victor we came out on top AND without any enemies!
Today he successfully garnered a 3-year-long restraining order against an obnoxious neighbor I've been dealing with for over 11 years. Victor wasn't my first choice because I thought he only defended criminals, but after a couple of other attorneys couldn't help me, I figured who better to help me get and keep a TRO on said obnoxious neighbor, who happens to also be a felon, than a lawyer who successfully helped people like THAT for years? Victor did a good amount of researching what he could to help with this case, and in such a short period of time. Today I met him in court without an ounce of nervousness and again he came through with flying colors. My peace of mind was at stake with this issue, and he made sure I'd be able to go home to a long-lasting, peaceful environment.
I've hired attorneys for other issues like an EEO and small claims, but one rare quality Victor exhibited that I really appreciated was his patience and willingness to listen and answer every question I had, even when I asked him the same thing more than once. This was very helpful because my need for legal representation was never for anything good, which brought on a lot of anxiety, and with it the inability to think straight. Having someone I could trust to speak on my behalf when all I felt like doing was crumbling into a heap was the greatest relief.
Needless to say I'll be calling Victor again should I ever need legal help. Well, hopefully I won't need it.

My first encounter ever with the law happened only a few months after I moved to Hawaii. I sought out Mr. Bakke's help and was completely satisfied! He physically went down to the scene, took video evidence, and presented it in court. My case was DISMISSED after the judge watched the video taken by Mr. Bakke. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for an attorney that cares, and dedicates his time to you and your case!

Victor Bakke handled my case professionally and very easily. He made the whole nightmare bearable. In the court room he was always on top of his game. Outside the courtroom he was always available to answer questions or just calm me down. I would refer anyone to use Mr. Bakke services.

I hired Bakke for three occasions: a total waste! Bakke basically collects his money (flat fee) and does nothing about your case until the day prior to the court date. A flat fees is in his advantage as the corresponding hourly rate could not be justified. I paid USD 20K on a Thursday. The following Monday he told me a judge was out to get me and enticed me to plead guilty with nothing in hands (no police report, no forensic report). He then spent no more than 10 h on my case up to sentencing. His defense strategy at sentencing was based solely on a psychological evaluation but that evaluation had not even been submitted to the Court as he did not follow up on it. Basically his flat fee corresponds to a hourly rate of 2K/hour for no defense!
At the time he justified the fee saying it included probation but when I violated probation, he asked me for an additional fee, which he even doubled after the first court hearing! Again he did nothing about the case until the day before the hearing and my probation was revoked by the judge that was after me from the start. That judge gave as reason I had another victim while that supposedly victim was trying to tell the truth about what had happened and had been shut down from the court proceedings, not even knowing about them and never contacted by Bakke. Bakke was unable to respond to the lies told by the prosecutor as totally unprepared, unaware of the case. When you call him about issues, he spends his time convincing you not to do anything. His motto is "we have to pick our fights"; the problem is that he picks none!
The worst is that the prosecutor is aware of his non-action and takes advantage of it. In my case he did not request the prosecutor for evidence I was not only asking for, but also I learned later I was entitled to. He let the prosecutor not only lie in court, but also tamper with evidence as he never even looked at them (my forensic report was "officially" completed less than 24 h before my sentencing date and not even signed; a close look showed evidence I was asking for from the beginning had been tampered with by the AG office as not matching the police report). On top of
that, he then let the prosecutor destroy these evidences while the sentencing judge had ordered to have them returned. When I asked him to act on it, he first asked me for another fee to do so and when I convinced him it was part of my probation fee, he told me he called the prosecutor and was old nothing was destroyed: what a surprise!
At my parole board hearing, again, he acted the day before the hearing so that, again, the parole board had not received his report the day of the hearing; again, he let the prosecutor lie at many occasions and justify these lies with "supposed" documents that were not even
on the record; when I asked Bakke to ask for these documents I know either did not exist or would have been again fabricated by the AG office, he again refused to do anything about it (so many "again"'s!).
On top of that Bakke admitted to me letting that same judge that revoked my probation wittingly give to at least one of his client more prison time that the law allowed. This is how corrupted the law in Hawaii is: the judge saying "it is illegal but if you do not complain I will do it" and the attorney giving his blessing. The law is the law and no-one should stand above it, especially a judge or an attorney who have taken an oath to fight unlawful actions, not to commit them!
Victor Bakke's (mis)representation is way below what you can expect from the worst public defender: no consideration of the case prior to the day preceding each of the three major court dates, not a single fight or challenge to the irregularities and crimes from the AG office, total obedience to a criminal judge bullying the legal system, systematic late submissions of supporting documents missing at every court appearance,...
