Bill Harrison is probably a good attorney if you hire and pay him by the hour. I paid him a flat rate retainer, and it was a complete disaster. There's no doubt Bill is an extremely smart guy and very very experienced. He's also very charismatic. But if you have limited funds, and a complex case, you might be better off with a public defender or a different attorney. I think Bill underestimated the complexity of my case from the beginning and only charged a $25,000 retainer that he said should be sufficient through a plea bargain. The case grew more complicated and stretched out over 2 years. In my opinion, because it ended up taking more time than he though, he didn't fight very hard, and the government basically got very close to what they were asking for on all fronts. I personally believe, that if he put in a little extra time, a much better outcome could have been achieved. In my case Bill was extremely unavailable. He almost never responded to my email, texts, or voicemails. Even messages repeatedly left with his secretary were almost never returned. With persistence (one out of 10 attempts through various channels perhaps) he might actually pick up the phone. I'm sure if I was paying him $400 an hour things would have been much different. There was one central side issue that Bill repeatedly said he would address from the first consultation. In the end, and also throughout the process, he was unwilling to press the prosecutor hard on it, and the government had their way. Looking back, I should have hired a less experienced, more hungry attorney who would have been willing to fight harder for my interests.
