Worst service ever. I hired and paid him in full on August first, by October 10, nothing was done in my case, no matter how much I pushed... now, he is withholding my money and stopped answering me. Absolutely worst experience ever. If you really need legal help, he is not the way... hell leave you hanging and keep your money.

When I needed him most, he showed up during my civil TRO hearing and knew exactly what to say to ensure I didn’t sabotage my own case. I've had an absolutely terrible experience. He took a 5.5k retainer, my case was moved to Canadian Courts, and now he's failing to respond, not returning the retainer, and appears to be attempting to steal my money. These actions have been preventing me from acquiring the appropriate legal representation. I strongly advise staying away from this law firm. UPDATE: He ended up padding the bill when asked for a refund of the retainer. Charged me for text messages and emails that he never responded to including messages listed below were I requested my funds be returned. "You are negatively impacting my ability to secure legal counsel and leaving me with no other options but to explore pursuing a civil case against your firm. If my money isn't returned this week, I'll be pursuing a civil case as well as filing a complaint with the Hawaii State Bar Association. This is absolutely ridiculous." CHARGED me $55. "Are you planning on returning the funds at all? It's very concerning that my requests have gone unanswered." NO RESPONSE and CHARGED another $55. "Good morning, We secured a lawyer in Ontario to handle the extradition/child custody. Would it be possible to return the remainder of the retainer? If the case ends up coming to Hawaii, we can send resend a retainer. Funds are just tight at the moment." NO RESPONSE and CHARGED another $55. "Hello, Are you able to help me formulate the response to the OCL report? This is my draft so far. OCL Response .docx" NO RESPONSE and CHARGED another $55. I think everyone can see the trend. I strongly advise looking elsewhere for a lawyer.

Ed charges 5k and doesn’t do his work for you , he doesn’t return your calls , he doesn’t follow up on emails , he doesn’t answer your email. He says he will meet you and don’t show up or even call . He is the worse I’ve hear of , warning he will take you for your hard working money , and then send you a bill that is made up of things he didn’t do.

I paid him THOUSANDS of dollars to get divorced and after 16 months of “representation” the case was dismissed and NOTHING changed. I was still married to an abusive husband that was actually incarcerated when the case was thrown out. He did a horrible job representing me!!! He failed to do what he promised was a simple process, after paying him approximately $2,000 a month for 16 months. I’m military and had to PCS before the divorce could be finalized. I provided him with ALL the necessary paperwork and Edward Smith still missed simple deadlines which created fines from the court. It also created animosity in the court room. Which in my opinion caused the judge to not take my case seriously. I had to fly back to Hawaii in July 2023 because he told me that if I was to be physically present in court and my ex was not there, then it would default in my favor. This was not the case. I was there, my ex was not, and the case was dismissed as if nothing ever happened. I flew back to Hawaii from Virginia, and the case was thrown out. When I returned to home to Virginia I filed again and had to redo the entire process on my own because I was out of money. I essentially taught myself how to file for divorce, resubmitted all the divorce paperwork in Virginia, had my ex served, gained full custody of my two boys, successfully had a restraining order put on my ex and was divorced in 3 months later. What I did on my own in THREE months he failed to do in 16 months!! DO NOT HIRE HIM!

Aloha! I am grateful for Edward Smith's consultation services. He promptly responded to my email and provided clear answers to my questions, even after business hours. His empathetic approach and willingness to help put my mind at ease was truly refreshing. I highly recommend his services. 💯 %

Please do not hire this attorney regarding protecting your family. He may say he can work with your budget, but he will steal your money and not keep his word on doing a monthly payment plan. Do not hire this man. He only communicates when it's time to make money, then he forgets about you.

Never processed any paperwork to get the ball rolling with my divorce. I had to do it myself eventually and this was months ago. Today he billed me 131 dollars and hasn’t done anything for me in so long. I’ve been divorced for a while now and this bill came out of no where. Gave him over 2 thousand dollars and he couldn’t even get paperwork served in a timely manner. Cannot recommend him unless you want to prolong and legal proceedings and waste a lot of money.

This man is a thief. He did absolutely nothing for my case. Did nothing to help me prepare. Was excused the day of court and was still charged! Please please please do not give this man any business.

I wouldn't advise hiring this lawyer; he seems focused on money rather than your best interests. He mishandled my case by including information I never provided. Avoid hiring this lawyer; he lacks respect for his clients. He frequently has new staff, possibly indicating mistreatment of his employees.
