I was served with a custody modification in March 2021. My daughters biological father had not been in her life for 8 years and he was requesting visitation. I was referred to Zach Lords by a coworker for my case. I had to pay a retainer of $3000 even though my ex had 10 years of criminal history, abandonment, and drug use. This should’ve been an open and shut case according to other legal representatives I’ve spoken to. There was no mediation, a stipulation to the modification was drawn up. After two drafts and a few phone calls we had come to an agreement rather quickly. The other party told me that he had scheduled a mediation, when I asked Mr. Lords about this he stated that there was no mediation scheduled for my case And not to worry about it. I took his advice. I paid over $2000 for Zach Lords services from March to June 2021. After the judge had agreed to our stipulation in June 2021 I requested that my remaining retainer be refunded to me and I stated I would no longer require there services moving forward. I was then informed by their office manager that I had to wait for 30 days for the billing cycle to complete before I could receive my money back. I cc’d every person I had worked with here over the last few months regarding my case in my response, asking that I receive my remaining retainer back immediately due to how much I had already paid out. At this point Zach responded and advised that my check would be at the office the next day. I picked it up and thought this mess was over. I was wrong. In August 2021 I received another statement from the office manager stating that I now owe $90 for a case update that’s was sent to me via email. An update stating that I had missed a scheduled mediation, that my lawyer stated did not exist, sent to me after I requested no more services from Mr. Lords in June. This case update shows that Zach gave me false information about a mediation that was scheduled by the other party that I missed due to his misinformation. I responded to the office manager as well as Mr. Lord’s stating that I had requested no more services from your business in June 2021. My lawyer had given me misinformation while he was retained and I would not be paying the new bill. It has been over a month and I still haven’t received a response. Yesterday I received another bill From this office showing I still owe $90 plus a finance charge. This is ridiculous, how can you charge a young mother $2100 for a simple case, no court appearances, and misinformation on the details of my case? Even after I asked for our services to end? At this point I feel as though I am being ignored, taken advantage of financially, and disrespected. I will never use your services again after this and I will forewarn anyone looking for a custody lawyer to avoid your entire company.

Unfortunately at times people treat you unfairly and you need an Attorney. Mr Curtis Smith has a silver tongue and could sell a ketchup popsicle to an Eskimo wearing white gloves on the 4th of July. He is well liked in the courtroom and does his best to make things fair. You can’t choose your neighbors but you can choose your attorney. He’s been an attorney for many years and knows what he’s doing. His Paralegal listens to concerns and does a great job filling in the cracks.

Curtis Smith represented me on a case against the department of labor. He was outstanding, and I would recommend his services to anyone. 100% pleased with all of my interactions with both Mr. Smith and his office.

Aaron Woolf knocked it out of the park!! I came into trial afraid that my parenting time had a distinct possibility of being severely diminished. He called right on time, was great at listening to all my concerns, immediately able to discuss the laws that addressed those concerns and offered his advice for addressing the issues.
