Worst attorney. She will promise you the moon and the stars and then not deliver on any of it while spending all your money in the process. She claims to have your back and then will not listen to you, curse at you and share personal information about herself as an excuse for her short comings. Don't be surprised if she fails to deliver on her promises and then drops you as a client, she has apparently done this with numerous clients. Save your money, you are better off doing it on your own.

I retained Tessa to represent me in a high conflict divorce. I cannot express enough how important it was to me to have an ethical attorney represent me and not just a fierce one. Throughout the proceedings of my case, over 2 years, I had the opportunity to repeatedly witness Tessa's passion, fidelity, compassion and ethics. And YES...Tessa is fierce...a classy fierce and . On multiple occasions, opposing counsel would get aggressive and yell when Tessa made an objection. Tessa was unruffled and proceeded with class and professionalism. I also had the privilege to experience the compassion, dedication and professionalism of Stephanie Porter, Tessa's paralegal. I HIGHLY recommend Tessa with Legacy Law Group. I would like to note that my review is being made before a decision has been made on my case.

In our situation she did not comply with the request of her client and continued to stir the pot even though the two parents had come to an agreement. Being a good lawyer is more than just always going after the most you feel you can get, but it also means listening to your clients and working towards a mutual resolution. She seems to want to win at all costs - even when it is not her money being spent!!

Tessa is absolutely a ‘child avenger’ in every regard, she fights for what is ethical and right in the fiercest manner. The divorce process and litigation were very foreign to me and after interviewing several attorneys I felt so discouraged, disheartened, and quite honestly upset that I wasn’t being heard in any regard - other than attorneys “talking at me” with the lingo that was not resonating with me at all. I called Tessa’s office in November of 2020 and Stephanie, Tessa’s amazing paralegal, was the first person to engage and actively listen to my concerns and the complexity of my situation. For the first time, I felt some relief and was immediately assured that I was on the right track with retaining an attorney. Stephanie acted with urgency and I spoke with Tessa for our initial consult soon after, the rest is history. Tessa became my biggest advocate through the most strenuous, excruciating, and soul-draining experiences of my life. Her character is fierce and driven, but she has deep empathy and can cultivate deep connections. She truly felt like a lifeline at times as I navigated a complex year and a half of a custody battle. As you can imagine with a high-conflict divorce, emotions and concerns were very often high but both Stephanie and Tessa, managed everything well, when issues arose through the case it was handled, and at the end of the day, I was always supported and protected. Tessa is ethical and doesn’t mind ‘shooting it straight’ to ensure you are truly making the right choices for the best outcome. If you want someone in your corner who will fight like hell for you, push you when it’s not easy to make the hard but right next step, and ultimately support you in reaching your end goal – then look no further. Tessa is a hell of an attorney and she will go the extra mile for you as well!

I hired Tessa Bennett in January and just terminated our client/attorney relationship. I paid the retainer fee and was charged $250 for the consultation. In all this time nothing was ever done for my case. When I called 1 month later after hiring her I was charged $140.00 for a 4 minute phone call in which I was told Ms Bennett was starting my paperwork that day. A month and a half later I still hadn’t heard or received anything from her. As of 2 days ago I hired a new attorney and let Ms Bennett go. The only good thing Ms Bennett did for me was refunding my full retainer fee. I would never recommend her because I feel she did not take my case seriously and did not want to help me.

Glenn is a stud. He will give you the best chance at beating your case and or the best plea agreement possible. I got my first DUI a few months ago and was very happy with the outcome. He is always easy to get a hold of and very helpful every step of the way. He even called after the case was settled just to check up and see how I was doing with the courts requirements of me. I have never had an attorney do that. I will use him again in a heart beat (Hope I never have too of course) and would recommend him to anyone. He is the real deal. Thanks again Glenn for all your help.

  3. Who will be handling my case?

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Meridian, Idaho?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
