Mabbutt Law Offices was great to work with. I was very worried about the case and Catherine put me at ease so many times throughout and the end result I couldn’t be more happy with. She is such a good lawyer and I’m sure if I didn’t have her my case would have been very different and so much more stressful. She was great to work with and I’m so grateful that I went to her for help. Would recommend her to anyone, she’s great.

I hired her for a modification to an existing custody case last November and she will not respond to me at all! Was happy to take my money and has pretty ignored me since! I have tried to contact her several times including sending emails and she is just flat out ignoring me! I have never met such an unprofessional lawyer like she is! If she doesn't want to help people or take on another case then she should stopping robbing people and taking their money!

Cathy is a fantastic attorney! She has been my attorney for 12 years or so. I had been in and out of family court for custody issues and I never lost a case. Even when non family court things would come up, Cathy was always my go to attorney and she took care of everything! I constantly recommend her when someone needs an attorney.

I live on the east coast and encountered some legal issues while traveling through Idaho. I was referred to Mabbutt Law Offices but was initially skeptical based on the reviews. I had a great experience with Reed Brevig, an attorney at the firm. He was very professional and kept in contact with me, providing updates and options. The outcome of my case was in line with what he initially expected and laid out for me. Would recommend!

Cathy Mabbutt is the worst attorney that I have ever met or had any experience knowing. My family member would call her office multiple times to try and speak with her regarding his court case and she did not return his calls one time. As a matter of fact, the only time she ever did contact him was in the time right before he had to appear in court, I’m talking the same day. When our family would ask questions or suggest something to bring up she would quickly shut down the ideas without even letting us complete our sentences sometimes. When we would try to ask questions or ask her why she would never have a real response or explanation, just a dismissive comment like, “it just wouldn’t work,” or “that would be a waste of time.” She never provided my family member with any of the paperwork related to his cases, we always had to ask her for copies. My family member is slow cognitively and, although he is an adult it is difficult for him to understand complex things such as law processes and language. She never took the time to explain anything to him. She would write something out and not explain what it meant, she would tell him he didn’t have any choice, but to do or sign whatever it was that she was proposing without explaining it. At one point his case was moved to a different court and the public defender there conducted an investigation that included interviews with witnesses and an analysis of the police reports with aerial maps. He really did a lot of work trying to help my family member have the best defense he could. It’s a long story, but the case ended up back into Cathy Mabbutt’s lap and when we tried to explain to her all of the work that this other attorney had done and asked her to obtain that data and try to do the same thing she dismissed it and said that would be a waste of time. When I told her that this other attorney wanted to take the case to a jury trial she literally laughed in my face and said that she wouldn’t do that. We could not afford to get another attorney, so he was stuck with her. I think that she is a worthless attorney that looks for the easiest path for herself. I have talked to many local attorneys in Moscow who have similar sentiments about her. People in her own field are able to see her inadequacy. She is not in this line of work to try and help people and it shows. I would not recommend her to anyone. I would, in fact, love to see her lose her license as a retribution for all of the people who needed her help that she failed to provide as a public defender.

Help if you have no chance on your own

Kathy is a great lawyer with lots if strengths, open minded, wisdom, along with being caring and understanding. However, her partner sucks and is very biased and judgemental. He is not someone I am pleased to have met and feel he does not put forth the effort to be a good lawyer.

We’ve come a LOOONG way & Cathy isn’t to blame for another attorneys inability to “play fair” so to speak. She has gone above & beyond what would have been any other attorney's duties. & I greatly appreciate your time & effort. (Quick tip tho: Don’t even try to get ahold of her by phone. You’ll receive better communication via email.) I’d have given ya 4.5 if that’d been an option. :)
