All of the legal knowledge and intellect in the world will never compensate for irresponsibility. He knew all the ins and outs of the area of law in which I hired him and if FaceTime is all that matters to you this is your guy but don't count on him actually acting on anything that he spoke to you about as you interviewed him the job for which you hired him to do or in any of the continuing conversations throughout the process as I found it to be nothing but lip service. he neglected to complete a critical piece of paper work in my process and it is costing me thousands to undo this grave error and I am NOT a person with that kind of money. As we went through the process and I refrenced him back to conversations from when I interviewed him and ask him about those topics as how they apply to my current situation he could not give me specifics that convinced me that he actually did the work he could not connect the details and was unable to applying those things he boasted about in his knowledge to my current situation but yet when he saw himself to me he told me how important I can't put my finger on exactly but I believe in my heart that if I were a more prominent person that perhaps this detail would not have been overlooked. Young people and women in particular I would warn against hiring this man. I think he only works well for people he believes are people live in influence and that have resources and social networks that motivate him instead of just being motivated by the fact that he was hired to do a job and he should do it well regardless of who is observing his work. I think he perceived my meekness as somebody who was not intellectual enough to think while to process and I think he was surprised about all the details like remembered from the interview of all the things he told me were so important that I get done. he glossed over and gave me to generic answers as to how pertains now and I believe if he had actually done the work he would have been able to give me more detailed answers. my meekness came from a profound personal loss can I put my trust and faith in this man to do right by me. I hired him and trust in him and I think he just looked at me as an easy income source. When my questions got specifically just kind of patted me on my head with the little woman type don't you worry your little head about that it was very disconcerting. He has a highly developed defense mechanism which allows him to relieve himself of any sense of responsibility even when faced with the most egregious of errors. the guy is made of Teflon nothing sticks to him including a conscience

Steve Raminiak is a knowledgeable professional that was able to guide me and my family during a difficult time when I had to take over POA for a family member related to healthcare and financial needs. He was able to help us navigate through Medicare and Medicaid needs and able to keep tabs on all documentation to maintain organization. He was an excellent advisor to understanding probate when we had to settle the estate for my family member. He has also drafted POAs and wills for my family and is always keeping us in the loop when laws change so we can update language as needed and goes over the information carefully and answers all questions. He is always compassionate and thoughtful, truly helping to guide us so we can make informed decisions on complicated but important matters.

Bona represented my divorce case and she made the process as easy as a divorce possibly could be. The process can be emotionally overwhelming and gets worse if you have to struggle with attorney hassles. I got Lucky with Bona since she made the legal proceedings the last thing on my mind to worry about. She was always available to talk to or write to, had the right answers and Never misguided or misrepresented any information. I always felt being with the right advisor and a legal representative.

I consulted with Miss Doci for my divorce and frankly I wasn't sure whether I should hire her because she is young. You hear horror stories about the divorce process and the lawyers taking advantage of your situation. Dont let her young age fool you though. She is a very positive person and very professional. I was quite impressed. We consulted, I hired her, she kept me in the loop and was very understanding and respectful of my requirements. I couldn't have asked for a better person to represent me. She contacted me a few days before the divorce to let me know the procedure of the divorce in the courtroom and assure me that everything was going to be okay. She was right because everything went smooth. I definitely made the right choice hiring her.

Positive, encouraging, helpful. We couldn''t have done it without them. It was very difficult, involved extensive documentation and they were with us in everyway. Everyone went the "last mile" to bring this to a conclusion. Many thanks to all who helped.

Hiring the right lawyer is crucial for the success of your case. Here are some important questions to ask during your initial consultation:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Arlington Heights, Illinois?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
